Sets the focus detection system (Phase Detection AF/Contrast AF) when you attach an A-mount lens using an LA-
EA1/LA-EA3 Mount Adaptor (sold separately).

Phase Detection AF:
Focuses with Phase Detection AF. The focusing speed is very fast.
Contrast AF:
Always focuses with Contrast AF. The focusing speed is slower. Use when you cannot focus with [Phase Detection AF].
Note
When [
AF System] is set to [Contrast AF],
The following functions are unavailable when [
[Zone], [Expand Flexible Spot], and [Lock-on AF] in [Focus Area]
[Eye AF]
When [
AF System] is set to [Phase Detection AF], even if [Priority Set in AF-S] is set to [Balanced Emphasis], the camera
will temporarily switch to [AF].
AF System] → desired setting.
(Continuous AF) under [Focus Mode] is unavailable.
