PREPARATION FOR USE
Using with the battery charge
1. Insert the rechargeable battery.
(1) Open the battery compartment cover.
(2) Insert the – mark of the battery first.
(3) Close the battery compartment cover.
2. Plug the AC adaptor into an AC outlet (AC 100V) and
plug the other end into the DC IN 3V jack on the bat-
tery charge stand.
3. Insert a MiniDisc.
(1) Move the OPEN knob in the direction shown by
the arrow to open the disc holder.
(2) Insert the arrow end of the MiniDisc first while pushing
the center of the MiniDisc and close the disc holder.
4. Place the main unit on the battery charge stand with its
front toward you.
Note:
To ensure safety, unplug the AC adaptor from the AC out-
let if not using it for long periods.
Rechargeable battery
1. Place the main unit on the battery charge stand with its
front toward you.
Display
If placing the main unit with the power on or after operations
with the battery charge stand, turn it off and hold down the
CHARGE button for 3 seconds or more.
2. After charging, remove the main unit from the battery
charge stand.
Notes:
Battery charging will be completed in 3.5 hours. When
completed, "

powered on.

While the unit is being operated with the rechargeable
battery or alkaline battery, the remaining amount of bat-
tery will appear on the display.

Alkaline battery power
1. Open the battery case supplied with the unit.
2. Insert an "AA" size battery (LR6) into the battery case ac-
cording to the direction imprinted and then close the case.
3. Align the protuberance on the battery case with the in-
dentation on the side of the unit.
4. Turn the linking screw on the battery case toward the
word "LOCK", and then make sure that the battery case
does not move.
Notes:
Do not insert a rechargeable battery (such as nickel-
cadmium rechargeable battery) into the battery case.
When using this portable MD with an alkaline battery,
keep the rechargeable battery in the main unit.
Hold function

The present operation can be kept even if buttons are ac-
cidentally pressed in a place such as a crowded train.
Main unit
To activate or cancel the hold function, hold down the
HOLD button for 2 seconds or more.
Remote control
To activate the hold function, slide the HOLD switch toward
