METHOD OF OPERATION
2.01
When overall operations of the PBX are
performed, PBX stations, trunks, auxiliary
equipment, etc, are employed' to establish the
necessary conditions. To select a particular circuit,
it may be necessary to make other circuits in the
group busy to force selection of the desired circuit.
2.02
Care should be exercised in removing
equipment from service during periods of
heavy traffic to prevent adverse service restrictions.
ISS 2, SECTION 553-201-300
2.03
Where the direct station selection (DSS)
service feature is provided, when a station
line circuit is seized its associated DSS lamp will
light steadily.
2.04
tThe 24A-, 34A-, and 54A-type consoles
used~
with this PBX are equipped with
locking trunk pickup (TRK) keys, a locking position
release (POS RLS) key, and a non locking hold
(HOLD) key. Also provided are three push-to-operate,
push-to-release keys designated position busy (POS
BSY), night (NITE), and audible signal (AUD SIG)
and four nonlocking keys designated transfer (TRFR),
release destination (REL DEST), page (PAGE),
and start (START). Two lamps, designated major
alarm (MAJOR ALM) and minor alarm (MINOR
ALM) are provided to alert the attendant of alarm
conditions within the system.
tIn addition, the
24B-, 34B-, and 54B-type consoles provide three
push-to-operate, push-to-release and two non locking
keys which are undesignated. These keys may be
used to provide the attendant control of dial access
to trunk groups feature (the push-to-operate,
push-to-release keys) or to provide access to
supplementary paging' equipment (nonlocking keys).
These keys will be connected and designated at
time of installation.s
2.05
The first operation of a push-to-operate,
push-to-release key establishes the condition
controlled by the key.
The second operation of
the key will release the condition.
For example,
the first operation of the NITE key transfers the
system to night service operation. "I'o release the
night service condition, the NITE key is operated
a second time.
2.06
When the attendant transfers a call to the
attendant conference circuit (Table K) or to
a central office trunk using straightforward outward
completion (Table D), the keys must be operated
in the order specified in the tables for successful
completion. If another operation is t~ be performed
between the time the attendant answers an incoming
attendant trunk call and the time the call is
completed to the central office trunk or attendant
conference circuit the attendant trunk should be
placed on hold and its identity remembered. The
attendant trunk may be placed on hold by operating
either the hold key, the position release key, or
another trunk key. When the call is to be completed,
the attendant reoperates the held attendant trunk
key and uses the sequences indicated in Table D
or K to complete the call.
