In this mode, the tester measures PD’s power consumption (Watts) by connecting the PSE’s port to the tester’s PSE port and then connect the tester’s PD port to a compatible PD.

N - Mode: Select this mode to test passive/non-standard PoE. If you are not sure if the PSE you are testing is standard or non-standard PoE, select the T-Mode first and then connect the PSE to the tester’s PSE port. If the tester’s display does not show any reading, it is most likely a passive PoE PSE.
