    Important Warnings WARNING Death or Serious Injury Can Occur FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS AND THE PRODUCT LABELS CAN RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO YOUR CHILD. To avoid serious injury or death, proper use is required. DO NOT let others install or use the car seat or car seat base without reading all the instructions first.
  • Page 18 Important Warnings cont’d WARNING Death or Serious Injury Can Occur If using the car seat base, securely install it in the vehicle either with the vehicle’s LATCH/UAS anchorage system or the vehicle seat belt, and then lock the car seat onto the car seat base, as shown in this manual.
  • Page 19 WARNING Death or Serious Injury Can Occur Use the car seat only with children who weigh between 1.8-13.6 kg (4-30 pounds), whose height is between 48-81cm (19-32 inches), whose shoulders are above the lowest set of shoulder slots, and who can be properly secured in the restraint harness.

The LATCH/UAS anchorage system makes car seat installation in a vehicle easier, and does not use vehicle seat belts. LATCH stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children, and is also referred to as lower Universal Anchorage System (UAS) in Canada.

    Installing the Car Seat Base: Overview If you are installing the car seat with the car seat base, first install the car seat base, and then dock the car seat on the car seat base. The car seat base can be installed using either LATCH/UAS, or a vehicle seat belt.

    Installing the Car Seat Base: With LATCH/UAS Before you install the car seat base in your vehicle, make sure the vehicle is parked on level ground. The car seat base should be installed without the car seat attached (Photo A). The towel should be compressed as the StrongArm tightens the car seat base into place.

With the connector oriented with logo facing outward, push it straight onto the metal bar until you hear and feel a CLICK (Photo J). Pull out on each LATCH/UAS connector to be sure it is locked onto the vehicle anchorage.
  • Page 39 revolutions. After 10 full revolutions, check the car seat base for a tight installation. You know that you have reached the optimal tightness setting when you tug on the belt guides (Photo M) and the base upright does not move more than 2.5 cm (1 in) in any direction.

    Un-installing the Car Seat Base: With LATCH/UAS To un-install the car seat base and remove it from your vehicle: Turn the StrongArm knob counterclockwise and reset the car seat base StrongArm to zero (Photo A). Push and hold the red button on each LATCH/UAS connector and pull it off the vehicle LATCH/UAS anchorage (Photo B).

  • Page 42 Installing the Car Seat Base: With Vehicle Seat Belt cont’d lock the vehicle seat back into the upright position. Center the car seat base on the vehicle seat (Photo D), making sure the areas under and behind the car seat base are clear of obstructions.
  • Page 43 WARNING Death or Serious Injury Can Occur To prevent ejection, the car seat base must be properly reclined. The window indicator in the car seat base must be green when installed. If using a lap-shoulder vehicle belt to secure the car seat base, continue to Step 7. If using a vehicle lap belt, skip to Step 14.
  • Page 44 Installing the Car Seat Base: With Vehicle Seat Belt cont’d Make sure the belt is not twisted and that both belts lie flat across the belt path and the open lock-off clamp. Pull on the shoulder portion of the vehicle seat belt to tighten the lap portion on the belt path (Photo I).

    Installing the Car Seat on the Car Seat Base: Overview Once the car seat base is installed, the car seat can be docked and locked onto the car seat base conveniently. The car seat MUST be locked in the car seat base in the rear-facing position when the vehicle is in motion.

  • Page 60 Sizing the Restraint Harness to Your Child cont’d Buckling the restraint harness : Unbuckle the restraint harness by squeezing the tabs on the chest clip as shown (Photo A). Unbuckle both buckle tongues by pushing the red button on the crotch buckle (Photo B).

Some smaller infants may need the extra stability from the infant head support to keep their head and body in a comfortable position (Photo A).

Secure the infant head support around the shoulder straps by fastening the hook and loop fasteners. (Photo C).     Removing the Upholstery and Sunshade To remove the upholstery : The upholstery can be easily removed for cleaning WITHOUT detaching the restraint harness from the car seat. Unhook each corner of the upholstery from the rim near the carry handles (Photo A) and pull it away from the seat shell.

    Sunshade To clean the upholstery : Machine wash in cold water on a gentle cycle with a mild detergent, such as Orbit Baby’s Upholstery Wash. Washing inside a pillow case and in a front-loading washer is recom- mended. DO NOT USE BLEACH.

    Other Cleaning Instructions Metal and plastic parts Metal and plastic parts on the car seat and car seat base may be wiped clean with a mild soap and water solution. Towel dry. Do not use household detergents, such as bleach or abrasive agents. These detergents can weaken plastic parts.

Test the crotch buckle by fastening and unfastening until a positive click is heard when inserting the buckle tongues. If a click is not heard, repeat the cleaning procedure.
