Transmitting & Receiving
The radio is continuously in the receive mode when switched ON and not transmitting.
For transmitting, press and hold the Push-To-Talk button (PTT), hold the radio in vertical position
5–10 cm away from the mouth and speak into the microphone with a normal voice.
Release the PTT when finished speaking, receiver will automatically be activated.
Function LED indicator glows red while transmitting, green when receiving.
The radio has two different reception modes.
• Open radio traffic – all communication is heard on the selected channel.
• CTCSS controlled radio traffic – communication is only heard on the selected channel if 114.8 Hz
CTCSS tone is received.
Read "Channel setup" on page 31 for more information.
Both radios must be tuned to the same channel to communicate with each other.
The radio has a transmit-limit that switches off the transmitter after 60 seconds continuous transmission.
By releasing the PTT and pressing again you will get new 60 seconds.
This is to avoid problems and blocking the selected channel if the PTT is accidentally pressed for a
long time.
