    2.3 Positioning the Unit Once all the components have been removed from the package, prepare the unit (machine body), operating as follows: With the unit in vertical position, unfold the work surface, then place the unit in a horizontal position on a table or on a proper support plane and set it in a way you can reach comfortably.

    3.2 Operator Interface e-DaVinci The CoLibrì book covering machine is fitted with a liquid crystal display (1) that shows various information icons and prompts. Some of them instruct the operator about the operations he has to manually carry out; the others illustrate the operations the machine is automatically carrying out.

    ♦ How to Cover Softcover Books ♦ How to Cover Hardcover Books ♦ How to Encapsulate / Wrap Documents or Objects 4.2.1 Operating Precautions e-DaVinci The CoLibrì book covering machine may only be used to cover/wrap books, magazines, documents, projects, photos, objects, etc.

When subjected to the thermal welding/trimming process, they might release harmful vapours or ignite. The use of this book covering machine for other purposes and/or the use of covering material which has not been approved by the manufacturer may cause injury to persons or damage the machine itself.

    4.2.2 How to Cover Softcover Books 1. Choose the cover size (Mini, A4 Standard, Standard or Standard) suitable to the size of the book to be covered, as described on section 4.1- “Choosing the size of the cover/document pocket”.     5 Maintenance of the Unit In order to avoid potentially harmful situations and/or to prevent damage to the equipment, refrain from carrying out any maintenance work that is not described in this manual. Before starting any maintenance work, switch off the unit turning off the main switch and disconnect the power cable.
  • Page 32: Replacement Of The Welding Bar

    5.2 Replacement of the Welding Bar For good trimming and welding results we advise you to check/replace the welding bar every 5000 trimming cycles (see the cycle counter on top of the unit). The unit signals the need to check/replace the welding bar when reaching 5000 cycles through a flashing (for about 50 cycles) of the cycle counter shown on LCD display and the SERVICE message signalling (see the error messages on section 6.4).

    6 Troubleshooting To avoid creating potentially dangerous situations and/or damaging the equipment do not carry out any work other than those described below. 6.1 The book covering unit does not work 1) Make sure that the machine is correctly powered; this is indicated by the manual operation instruction icons shown on LCD display.

  • Page 36 6.3 Machine setting change This operation must be carried out only in case of constant defect of the welding/trimming operation. The machine has been designed in such a way as to request the setting of just one numeric parameter which affects in an optimized way all the software algorithms that control the operating variables: (welding time, welding temperature, welding bar pressure, trimming time, etc.).
