Cord storage
(fig. 1)
You can push excess mains cord in the storage
aperture at the back side of the appliance. The
mains cord can be fixed by pushing it downwards,
into the narrow slot of the aperture.
Before first use
- Operate the appliance once using water, but
without filling the filter with ground coffee
(see section "Making coffee").
- Next, clean the removable parts as described in
section "Cleaning".
Making coffee: please refer to the illustrations
- Take the jug out of the appliance and fill it with
fresh, cold water.
- Open the cover of the water tank.
- Pour the required quantity of water in the
watertank (fig. 2a).
Types HD 7402 / HD 7406 only:
Typenumbers HD 7402 en HD 7406 both contain
a anti-chlorine waterfilter, which filters chlorine
particles from the tapwater. Pour the water into
the chlorinefilter (fig. 2b).
The water level in the watertank can be read from
the window; the markings correspond to large
cups (125 ml).
Ensure that the water level does not get higher
than the maximum marking (MAX).
- Place a paper filter type 1x2 in the filter holder
(fig. 3a). Do not forget to fold the rims, to avoid
tearing and collapsing of the filter.
With some models a permanent filter is
supplied. In this case paper filters are not
required (fig. 3b).
- Fill the filter evenly with the required quantity of
ground coffee (fig. 4).
Quantity of ground coffee (advice):
Take one full (heaped) measuring spoonful of
ground coffee for each cup (fig. 5). You can adapt
the quantity of coffee to your personal
taste. Use "Fast Filter" type coffee. If you grind the
coffee yourself, do not grind it to a fine powder.
- Close the cover of the appliance.
- Position the jug with the lid on the hotplate
(fig. 6).
- Switch the coffee maker on (fig. 7).
The pilot light of the on/off switch will now come
on.
The automatic "drip-stop" (stop-valve) ensures
that no coffee will drip on the hotplate if you:
- remove the jug from the appliance for a
moment during the brewing process;
- remove the jug after making coffee.
Please note: the "drip-stop" will only function
properly if the jug lid has been placed.
When your coffee is ready
- When the last coffee has dripped out of the
filter, you can take the jug (with the lid) out of
the appliance (fig. 8).
- Put the jug back on the hotplate to keep the
coffee warm (fig. 9). Coffee taste and
temperature are then maintained .
