Using a fine saw or a diamond cutting disc, cut the closing flaps out of the hull, preferably along a steel guide rule.
Cut the removed section down the center, along the seam of the hull so that two flaps are made and mark them
as right and left flaps. Smooth the cut edges using fine sandpaper. In order to ensure that the flaps do not fall into
the hull while closing during later operation, adhere stops made of thin plywood to the inside of the hull, protruding
approx. 3 mm at the front and rear.
Depending on the length of the flaps, they are fastened to the hull with two or three hinges.
Notches, 4x8mm, must be filed away from the hull to accommodate the hinges.
Now the flaps are adhered to the hull using adhesive
tape so that there is a gap of approx. 0.5 - 1 mm remai-
ning between the flaps in the center.
