Installing the SPCN310
The SPCN310 provides the SPC controller with a GSM
interface allowing the user to send and receive text
messages via the mobile network. For a complete
description on the GSM features please consult the SPC
Configuration Manual.
The SPCN310 must have a SIM card installed in the unit

SPCN310 on the SPC Controller
Before installing the GSM module onto the SPC
controller ensure that a functioning SIM card is installed
on the module.
To install a SIM card onto the GSM module unlock flap
with an upward motion, rotate the flap on the SIM card
holder to the 'up' position and slide the SIM card down
into the slot. Rotate the flap back to its original position,
press and click into place with a downward motion.

LED Functionality
There are 2 LED's on the top left of the modem module.
The top LED (D1) stays on during the configuration period
of the modem. When the modem has been configured
this LED flashes regularly (once every second approx.) to
indicate that the modem is functioning normally.
The bottom LED (D2) flashes when the modem is
communicating with the SPCN310 mast. This occurs
during registration and whenever data is being
exchanged.
An antenna (supplied with the SPCN310) needs to be
I
attached to the SMA connector located at the end of the
I
connector lead. (If an additional SMA connector is
I
mounted on the top of the module, do not use it to
connect the antenna.) The antenna can be mounted on
the top of the cabinet using one of the knock-out holes
provided. Ensure that the antenna is unobstructed.
