Figure 1-2. Rear Panel Configurations 1.1.2 FUNCTIONAL The redundant Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) unit is used to provide automatic signal protection in a redundant low noise amplifier system. There are two operating modes, Manual and Auto. In Manual mode the operator has control of the transfer switches. With the control unit in Auto mode, a fault condition in an on-line LNA would generate an automatic switchover to a standby LNA.

SECTION 2 2.0 INSTALLATION 2.1 UNPACKING, STORAGE, RESHIPMENT Carefully open the shipping container and remove the equipment. Inspect the equipment thoroughly and report any damage. If the equipment is to be stored, it should be wrapped in plastic and kept in a clean, dry place. If the equipment is to be reshipped for any reason, wrap in heavy plastic and ship in a heavy (275 lb.
DESIGNATION DESCRIPTION Ground Lug Connect the ground lug on the rear panel of the equipment to the Protective Earth connection of the building. Power Cords Attach power cords to the rear panel AC power inlets marked “PSA” and “PSB”. Connect the other end to the power source. Refer to national wiring standards for the correct connection to the power source.
SECTION 3 3.0 DEFINITIONS 3.0.1 ACTIVE ALARM An Active Alarm is a Redundant Low Noise Amplifier Unit (RLNAU) generated fault, which indicates that the unit is presently detecting a fault. The Active Alarms that can be reported are: • An amplifier alarm is active while the current drawn by the amplifier exceeds the current limits programmed into the unit for that amplifier.

3.0.4 BACKUP AMPLIFIER A Backup Amplifier is intended to remain in standby during normal operation. 3.1.4 REMOTE MODE When the RLNAU is in the Remote control mode operational functions and parameters can only be controlled from the remote bus. All control and parameter values can be viewed from the front panel. Changes to control and parameter values are locked out. The event log and any active alarms can be examined while the unit is in the Remote control.
UP and DOWN Keys: provides navigation to different menu screens, when the cursor is a right arrow the ↑↓ keys cycle through parameter choices. 3.2.2.2 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY The Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) is organized as two rows consisting of sixteen characters each.

3.2.3.2 MAIN MENU If not already displayed, use the MENU key to access the Main Menu. The Main Menu is a series of screens that provide access to functions that do not have a dedicated key. Use the up and down arrow keys to scroll through the Main Menu screens in the order listed below.

3.2.3.3 ON-LINE/STANDBY SCREEN Use the MENU and arrow keys to select the ON-LINE/STANDBY screen, then press ENTER. To Change On-line/Standby Status: • Point the arrow cursor to the desired amplifier status. The UP and DOWN keys move the arrow cursor. If that amplifier is not on the display (for the 1:2 and Dual 1:1 models only), the other amplifier(s) may be reached by using the DOWN key.

3.2.3.5 VOLTAGE MONITOR SCREEN Use the MENU and arrow keys to select the VOLTAGE MONITOR screen, then press ENTER. Slight variation should be expected. PSA:+5.6V +24.5V This screen updates to provide the latest readings from the voltage monitors of the power supplies.

3.2.3.12 ALARM MENU Press the ALARM key to display the Alarm Menu. 02 ALARMS 32 EVENTS The Alarm Menu displays the number of active alarms and the number of events stored in the Event Log. The Alarm Menu also provides access to the Active Alarm screen and the Event Log screen.

SECTION 4 REMOTE OPERATIONS The equipment is supplied with an RS485/RS422 bus. As an option, the equipment can be supplied with an IEEE-488, RS232, contact closure or Ethernet interface instead of the RS485/RS422. The command structures for the serial buses and Telnet are identical. The IEEE-488 message format is similar to the serial message format.
4.2 SERIAL MESSAGE FORMAT The serial message format is as follows: HEADER - ADDRESS - COMMAND/ERROR CODE - PARAMETERS - TRAILER - CHECKSUM The Header byte is 7BH, ASCII character "{". The address may take on the values from 64 to 95 decimal (40H to 5FH). Legacy Redundant Amplifier commands are fully supported in this unit.

4.3.3 AMPLIFIER CURRENT LIMITS = LIM The SET command requires three parameters. One is a single digit in length representing the amplifier path. The other two are both three characters in length representing the high and low amplifier current limits in milliamps. 4.5 IEEE-488 MESSAGE PROTOCOL The equipment performs the basic Talker and Listener functions as specified in the IEEE-488 standard. It is also capable of sending a Service Request to the active IEEE-488 Controller and will respond with a status word when the Serial Poll Enable message is received. The messages to and from the unit are ASCII character strings terminated with CR, LF and EOI.

5.1.3 CONFIGURING INTERNET PROTOCOL (IP) OPERATING PARAMETERS An Internet Protocol (IP) address and associated parameters must be configured in the unit so the controlling device can address it. Normally, the individual or organization managing the facility’s LAN assigns this address. Three parameters will be required: IP Address (Factory setting 192.168.1.1) Subnet Mask (Factory setting 255.255.255.0)

The Communications provides access to the communication settings of the unit. Changing the IP settings will disrupt the session and the operator will be required to reconnect to the unit at the new settings. These can be set from the remote port. SNMP parameters can also be defined from this page.

71517.1.16 The SNMP Management Information Base (MIB) file for the system, available from MITEQ defines the specifics of the interface. This file is read by the chosen SNMP management tool to provide an “understanding” of the interface. The MIB file is in a format that can be read with any text editor.
When a Telnet connection is established, the unit will request the password (five ASCII characters), which should be sent in the standard MITEQ wrapper (‘{‘<address byte (ignored)><password>’}’<checksum byte>(ignored)). The default password is five numeral ones.
