Care and Safety
The information provided in this document supercedes the general
safety information contained in user guides published prior to January
1st 1999.
For information regarding walkie-talkie use in a hazardous
atmosphere please refer to the Factory Mutual (FM) Approval Manual
Supplement or Instruction Card which is included with walkie-talkie
models that offer this capability.
To clean the walkie-talkie, wipe with a soft cloth dampened with water.
Don't use cleaners or solvents on the walkie-talkie, they can harm the
body and leak inside, causing permanent damage. Battery contacts
may be wiped with a dry, lint-free cloth.
If the walkie-talkie gets wet, turn it off and remove batteries
immediately. Dry battery compartment with a soft cloth to minimize
potential water damage. Leave cover off the battery compartment
overnight or until completely dry. Do not use the walkie-talkie until
completely dry.
Do not use the walkie-talkie where iron-filings, swarf or other
materials may be attracted by the magnet in the loud speaker. This
could impair performance and cause permanent damage.

Operation and EME Exposure For Portable Two-Way Radios
or Walkie talkies:
When transmitting with a portable radio or walkie-talkie, hold radio or
walkie-talkie in a vertical position with its microphone 2.5 to 5.0 cm
away from your mouth. Keep antenna at least 2.5 cm from your head
and body when transmitting.
