For Your Safety

Working safely with this machine is possi-
ble only when the operating and safety in-
formation are read completely and the in-
structions contained therein are strictly
followed. In addition, the general safety in-
structions in the enclosed booklet must
be followed.
For long hair, wear hair protection. Work only
with closely fitting clothes.
Before each use, check the machine and battery. If
damage is detected, do not use the machine. Have
repairs performed only by a qualified technician.
Never open the machine yourself.
Before inserting the battery, when changing tools as
well as when transporting and storing, always place
the rotational direction switch in the middle position!
Be careful when screwing in long screws; danger of
sliding off.
Do not load the machine so heavily that it comes to a
standstill.
Be careful of hidden electrical lines or gas
and water pipes. Check the working area,
e. g. with a metal detector.
When using the machine as an impact drill, or when
fitted with large drills, hold the additional grip 9 , in or-
der to be able to grasp the machine securely should
the drill become lodged.
When working above head level, do not leave any
screws/objects attached to the magnetic plate 14 .
Before any work on the machine itself, remove the
battery.
Bosch is only able to ensure perfect functioning of the
machine if the original accessories intended for it are
used.
Battery and battery charger
The enclosed operating instructions for the bat-
tery charger must be read carefully!
The battery and battery charger are designed to com-
plement each other. When charging the battery, use
only a Bosch battery charger designed for it with a
loading voltage that corresponds with the battery (see
type label). Combining with differing mains voltages
causes damage to the battery or the battery charger.

Allow the heated battery to cool before charging.
The battery should not be charged over a period ex-
ceeding the time stipulated in the operating instruc-
tions for the battery charger.
Do not charge the battery several times in succession
and do not recharge it after using it only for a short pe-
riod (e. g. 3 minutes).
Protect the battery from heat and fire: Danger of ex-
plosion!
Do not place the battery on radiators or expose to
strong sun rays for a longer time; temperatures over
50 °C cause damage.
Do not open the battery, and protect from impact.
Store in a dry and frost-free place.
When storing the battery in a location other than the
charger, cover the battery terminals. Danger of fire or
explosion can be caused by a short circuit due to me-
tallic bridging!

Before Putting into Operation

Battery Charging
A battery that is new or has not been used for a longer
period does not develop its full capacity until after ap-
proximately 5 charging/discharging cycles.
Disengage the battery 7 by pressing the releasing
knob 8 on both sides and pulling down, out of the handle.
Do not exert any force.
Connect the battery charger to the mains. Charge the
battery. When charging has been completed disconnect
the battery charger from the mains and insert the battery
in the machine.
The battery is fitted with an NTC temperature feeler
which only permits charging in surroundings with a tem-
perature of between 0 °C and 45 °C.When used prop-
erly, the battery can be recharged up to 3000 times .
If a full battery loses its charge very quickly despite only
a small load, it is worn out and must be replaced.
Observe the notes on environmental protection.
When using Bosch NiMH batteries, the per-
formance capabilities are limited at tempera-
tures below –10 °C.

Changing the Tool

Spindle Lock (Automatic Lock)
When the drilling spindle is motionless it is automatically
locked.
Magnetic plate
The screw, drill or bit can be held on the magnetic
plate 14 until they are used again, except when working
above head level.
