GENERAL

Document Purpose

This document describes the Westell DTWA528-14 Series of
14-Position Digital Terminating Wall Assemblies, shown in
Figure 1. See Table 2 for information concerning other mod-
els in the same product family.
- NOTE -
Hereafter, the DTWA528-14 Series of Digital Terminating Wall
Assemblies may be referred to as the
assembly," or mounting." Specific model numbers will be used
where key differences apply.

Document Status

Whenever this practice is updated, the reason will be stated in
this paragraph. This practice replaces document number
785-000117, deletes the List 1, 2, 3, and 8 models, and provides
a general editorial update.
1.3

Product Purpose and Description

The DTWA528-14 is a 14-position mounting that holds up to
fourteen 200 MECHANICSr DS1 Network Interface Units
plus provides a dedicated slot for a modular power supply.
Facility connections are made to wirewrap pins or to two, sep-
arate, Transmit (XMT) and Receive (RCV), 25-pair, male
connectors. Refer to Table 1 for facility-side wiring connec-
tions.
The DTWA528-14 provides a unique easy-access method for
CPE wiring connections. A convenient Customer Interface
Module (CIM), with 14 individual and switch-selectable
RJ48C/S jacks plus two, separate, male, 25-pair connectors
(one for transmit and one for receive), can mount on either
the left or the right side of the mounting. The switches allow
the installer to select either an RJ48C, RJ48S, or an RJ48H

vices.

The DTWA528-14 is typically mounted on an approved wall.

The DTWA528-14 offers the following features.

Compact and light-weight, holds up to 14 DS1, HDSL,
DDS or Analog Data circuits (200 MECHANICSr)
S
Prewired connectorized backplane minimizes wiring errors
and installation time
S
Facility connections are made to separate, 25-pair, XMT
and RCV connectors or to wire-wrap pins
S
CPE connections made at the unique, removable, CIM
module, which contains two, 25-pair, male connectors (one
for XMT and one for RCV), and 14 switchable RJ48C/
RJ48S modular jacks
S
Can be used in backup or redundant power applications
