    2. Designed purpose of use The AVANT Telescopic jib boom is an attachment is intended to be used with AVANT multi purpose loaders that are listed in Table 1. The attachment is especially useful when moving objects that are not meant to be lifted with pallet forks.

    7 (34) 3. Safety instructions for using the attachment Please bear in mind that safety is the result of several factors. The loader-attachment combination is highly powerful and improper or careless use or maintenance may cause serious personal injury or property damage.
  • Page 8 8 (34)  Risk of tipping over - Keep loads close to ground while driving. Carrying heavy loads can shift the centre of gravity of the loader and lead to tipping over of the loader. For the best stability always transport loada as low and close to the loader as possible, with the telescopic boom completely retracted, to keep the centre of gravity WARNING low.

    9 (34) Risk of crushing - Going under the loader boom or an attachment can cause serious injury or death. Never go under the loader boom and prevent others from getting near lifted boom or attachment. Going under a raised attachment or loader boom DANGER is dangerous, as the boom may lower due to loss of stability, mechanical fault or when other person operates the controls of the loader.

    10 (34) 3.2 Safe shutdown procedure Safe stopping of the attachment, before going near the attachment: Always stop the attachment following safe stopping procedure before leaving the driver's seat. Safe stopping procedure prevents all unintentional movements of the attachment. Note that the loader boom can move down even if the engine of the loader is turned off.

    Do not stay in the area between the attachment and the loader. Mount the attachment only on level surface. WARNING Never move or lift an attachment that has not been locked. Avant quick coupling system: Step 1:  Lift the quick attach plate locking pins up and turn them backwards into the slot so that they are locked in the upper position.

    5.1 Connecting and disconnecting hydraulic hoses On Avant loaders the hydraulic hoses are connected using the multi connector system. If you have an Avant 300-700 series loader with the conventional quick couplers and wish to change to the multi connector system, contact your Avant dealer or service point for instructions or installation services.
  • Page 16 16 (34) Disconnecting hydraulic hoses: Before disconnecting the fittings, lower the attachment to safe position on solid and level surface. Turn the control lever of the auxiliary hydraulics to its neutral position. When uncoupling the attachment, always disconnect the hydraulic couplings before unlocking the quick attach plate, to prevent hose damage and any oil spills.

    17 (34) 6. Operating the attachment Check the attachment and the operating environment once more before starting to work, and that all obstacles have been removed from the operating area. Quick inspection of the equipment and the operating area before use are parts of ensuring safety and the best performance of the equipment.

    18 (34) 6.1 Checks before use Use only when all pins are locked and secured in place.  Check the general condition of the attachment and the loader.  Check that the lifting hook is intact and that its safety latch is in good condition. Do not use damaged ...

    19 (34) 6.2 Operation The Safe Working Load limit for the attachment is 800 kg. Never handle loads that are heavier than 800 kg. The jib boom can get damaged as a result, and the load may fall. The maximum load that can be safely lifted with a loader depends on the load handling capacity of the loader. See Rated operating capacity on page 22 in this manual, and the operator's manual of the loader for more information.

    20 (34) Risk of tipping over - Do not drag heavy loads from e.g. shelf. Do not reverse with the loader while simultaneously dragging load. Make sure that the loader can handle the load being lifted. When lifting load from a high level, the loader could tip forward when DANGER reversing with the loader.

    22 (34) 6.2.3 Rated Operating Capacity Always follow the operator's manual of the loader to determine the Rated Operating Capacity of each loader model. A load diagram is presented in the operator's manual of each loader model. With the diagram, the load handling capacity of the loader can be evaluated according to the distance of the load hook from the loader.

    28 (34) 6.3 Working on uneven ground Extra caution is needed when using the equipment on inclined terrains and slopes. Drive slowly especially on inclined, uneven, or slippery surfaces, and avoid sudden changes in speed or direction. Operate the controls of the loader with careful and smooth movements.

    Finding any fault means that the hydraulic hose or component must be replaced and the equipment must not be used until it is repaired. Spare parts are available from your nearest AVANT retailer or authorised service point. Leave the repair work to professional service technicians, if you don’t have adequate knowledge and experience about hydraulic assemblies and how to perform the repairing safely.

    If any of the points listed above is not satisfactory during inspection the damaged parts must be replaced, or the attachment must be taken to an authorized Avant service. If the hook or its pin need to be replaced it must meet the original strength and load specifications. Use only original parts to ensure that the hook mets the original specifications.

    31 (34) 7.4 Lubrication There are 2 lubricating points on the Telescopic jib boom, to which a small amount of lubricant is added regularly. Retract the boom completely before adding the lubricant. Appropriate lubrication interval depends heavily on operating conditions, but lubricant must be added at least after every 10 hours of use.

    32 (34) 8. Warranty terms Avant Tecno Oy grants a warranty of one year (12 months) from the date of purchase for the attachment it manufactures. The warranty covers repair costs as follows:  Work costs are covered, if the repair is not performed at the factory.
