    Introduction 1 Introduction 1.1 Overview Congratulations on your purchase of the IXXAT CAN-CR200, a high-quality elec- tronic component developed and manufactured according to the latest techno- logical standards. This manual is intended to familiarize you with the device. Please read this man- ual before beginning with the installation.

    More detailed information to this points can be found in chapter 4. 2.1 Mounting of the DIN rail bus The CAN-CR200 provides a DIN rail bus for connecting the device to other CAN- CR200. With this option it is possible to build up a CAN star.

    Now the CAN-CR200 can be mounted. 2.2 Mounting of the devices The package of the CAN-CR200 has an opening for the TBUS plug in the are of the DIN rail, see Picture 2-4. While the devices are attached to the DIN rail, a cor- rect mounting to the TBUS plug has to be observed.

    Picture 2-6 Mounted CAN-CR200 2.3 EMI Hints The CAN-CR200 is a Class A device. This means, that it is tested and designed for industrial use and complies to this requirements. If the device is used in an office or living area, in extreme cases radio interferences could happen.

    Picture 3-1 Connectors and indicators of the CAN-CR200 3.1.1 Power connector For the power connection of the CAN-CR200, a screw terminal is used. For wir- ing, please ensure that the cross-sectional area of the cable is larger than or equal to 0.2mm².

    The power connector is just plugged into the housing and can be removed with a screwdriver or similar tool. 3.1.2 CAN bus connectors The CAN-CR200 has two CAN bus interfaces according to ISO 11898-2. The sig- nals of the CAN bus interfaces are connected to the Sub D-9 plugs (see Table 3-2).

    Connections and indicators 3.1.3 DIN rail bus and TBUS-connector The CAN-CR200 has a DIN rail bus. With this interface the device can be con- nected to other CAN-CR200 devices. The signals of the DIN rail bus are described in Table 3-3.

    Connections and indicators 3.2 Indicators The CAN-CR200 has four LEDs. The LEDs show the communication status of the relevant interface or the device status. Picture 3-4 LEDs of the CAN-CR200 3.2.1 Power LED (P) The Power LED indicates the status of the power supply. If the LED is green, the power supply is working.

    Table 3-5 States of the CAN LED 3.3 CAN bus termination The CAN-CR200 offers the possibilty to add bus termination resistors to each CAN network connected to the device. This feature is realized with a DIP switch for each CAN channel. For more details please refer to chapter 4.1.

    Configuration 4 Configuration Before you can use the CAN-CR200 the internal DIP switches S301 and S302 has to be set according to the CAN network configuration. The default settings are shown in chapters 5.3 and 5.4. The configuration of the bus termination resistors should be done before install- ing the device into the system, too.

    4.3 Configuration of the lock time (S302) With the DIP switch S302 the lock time of the CAN-CR200 is defined. This time is used to avoid bit errors created by the device itself in a result of the signal propa- gation delay.
