These instructions describe the installation of the Starizona MicroTouch stepper motor onto the focuser
of a Sky-Watcher USA telescope. Separate instructions are included with the MicroTouch autofocuser
for the operation of the electronics and software.

Remove the Focus Knobs from the Sky-Watcher Focuser

Both the fine-focus (black) and coarse-focus (silver) knobs need to be removed. They are each held on
by a single set screw. Use the included 2mm hex wrench to loosen the screws, then slide each knob off
the focuser.

  • Page 2 Above: Focuser with both knobs removed Attach the Focuser Gear Slide the included brass gear onto the smaller fine-focus shaft of the focuser. The gear hub with the set screw goes toward the focuser, and the gear teeth should be away from the focuser as shown. The gear should slide all the way onto the shaft.
  • Page 3 Above: The stepper motor installed Warnings Do not try to turn the focus knob on the opposite side of the focuser while the motor is installed. The tension thumbscrew on the bottom of the focuser must be loose while the motor is installed. You are now ready to head out under the stars and autofocus your telescope!
