gesis® presence detector DALI
Only trained electricians may install and commission this device. They must have
read and understood this instruction manual before they carry out installation.
Do not open the device. Do not insert any foreign objects. Keep the device away from
water and fire.
Only connect or disconnect the device if it hast been de-energised.
The relevant standards, directives, regulations and provisions of the particular country
are to be observed.
Since the presence detectors are integrated directly into the plug-in installation, the appro-
priate provisions for cable tension relief apply.
If the presence detector is opened, this can't be guaranteed and Wieland makes no gua-
rantees.
general Description
The presence detector master (MA see picture below) gesis® P CLS-DALI-31 is a DALI based
multi sensor (PIR) with 3 separate lighting zones. All 3 zones are daylight-controlled. The
lighting can be switched on manually or automatically via PIR. A manually override with the
infrared remote gesis® PIR IR B-04 IPD is possible. The lighting can be switched off automati-
cally via PIR and manually with the infrared remote gesis® PIR IR B-04 IPD. The 3 zones work
as a group with manual override and control with the IR remote.
Adjustable parameters can only be set with the service remote gesis® PIR IR B-21 IPD. If the
detection range of the gesis® P CLS DALI-31 is not sufficient, it can be expanded with one or
more slaves of the type gesis® P MS-DALI-SL. To integrate one or more slaves, the slaves are
integrated parallel to the DALI ballasts at any point in the system.
The slaves may only be installed after the acivation of the master (MA) and after the assign-
ment of the ballasts.

The gesis® P CLS-DALI-31 is designed for use in office, schools, meeting rooms or similar
locations. It is suitable for small and large spaces, as several slave PIR sensors gesis® P
MS-DALI-SL can be connected together to increase the detection range.
Function
The presence detector gesis® P CLS-DALI-31 works on a ‚Constant Light' concept, which
means it continuously measures the light levels in the room, and from this measurement, adju-
sts the light level coming from the luminaire according to the target value. The sensor keeps
a constant light level in the room, and turns off the light when daylight contribution is suffici-
ently large. If the lighting shall be constant at a minimum value or if it is not to be switched off
if there is sufficient daylight, this function can be deactivated via manual override.
Light goes to minimum when leaving the room after the preset time delay. After another 5
minutes without moving, it turns off the light (2-step turn off).
Infrared remote control
The remote control gesis® PIR IR B-21 IPD is used for commissioning. The functions are
explained in connection with the commissioning of the sensor. With the remote control
gesis® PIR IR B-04 IPD, the end user can turn the backlight on / off (if this is programmed) or
the ‚permanent light level' for a limited time to move. Infrared remote controls must always be
kept directly in the direction of the receiver and there must be a ‚line of sight' to communicate.
Default settings
The gesis® PCLS-DALI-31 can be configured to operate after different parameters. The default
settings are as following:
OFF: The light must be switched on manually (see PIR function).
NO-CUT-OFF: When sufficient daylight, lighting remains on minimum (see CUT-OFF,
NO-CUT-OFF).
200 Lux: Lux levels are set to 200 lux (see fix light value from 100 to 1000 lux)
BURN-IN: Function is inactive (see BURN-IN function)
15 minute PIR Timer(see PIR timer)
Sensitivity on second-highest level (see response value sensitivity)

Installation
D1/D2
The gesis P CLS-DALI-31 has a built-in DALI power supply. There may be no external DALI
power supply, as this would destroy both the DALI devices and the sensor gesis P CLS-
DALI-31. Install the lamps and connect them with the plug-in system GST 18i5, Code 2 pastel
blue. Use T-distribution as taps to the individual lights or presence detectors. After all lumin-
aires are installed, plug in the AC 230V power supply into the according clamping point (L, N,
PE). Wenn all lights are installed, turn on the 230 V AC mains voltage. All lights are turned on
and can be assigned to different daylight zones now. This is done by using the remote control
H
gesis® PIR IR B-21 IPD, therefore see ‚PIR test' and ‚Assignment of luminaires into zones
immediately after installation'.
The slaves may only be installed after the acivation of the master (MA) and after the assign-

ment of the ballasts.
