9. Circuit Descriptions, Abbreviation List, and IC Data Sheets
Index of this chapter:
9.1 Introduction
9.2 Main Supply
9.3 Abbreviation List
9.4 IC Data Sheets
Notes:
Only new circuits (circuits that are not published recently)
are described.
Figures can deviate slightly from the actual situation, due
to different set executions.
For a good understanding of the following circuit
descriptions, please use the wiring, block (chapter 6) and
circuit diagrams (chapter 7). Where necessary, you will find
a separate drawing for clarification.
9.1
Introduction
This chassis (member of the "TV522" platform) is a derivative
from the Q528.1HU LA chassis (member of the "TV520"
platform). It comes with the ME7 styling. For a description of
most circuitry, refer to the Q528.1E LA Service Manual.
Some more delta's w.r.t. the previous Q528.1E LA chassis are:
The addition of a PCMCIA controller (STI7101) with
Common Interface slot.
The implementation of an integrated audio Class-D Power
Amplifier (TDA1517ATW/N1).
Integrated SAW filter for IF filtering.
Decoding of MPEG4-encoded transport streams through
the STi7101 MPEG4 PCMCIA decoder/controller.
Reception of DVB-C (in some sets).
Some modifications to the on-board DC-DC converters.
The STi7101 MPEG4 decoder/PCMCIA controller has been
described in the Q528.1E LB Service Manual. Unlike there, in
current chassis this device is now incorporated onto the SSB
(no bolt-on panel needed) and is not taking care of the MPEG4
decoding. This is handled by the LGDT1129 Pro:Idiom

Features
The main features for this chassis are:
The introduction of a module referred to as "Light Guide" on
the front side of the set (in some sets).
Support of DVB-C reception (in some sets).
For hospitality TV this chassis is provided with Pro:Idiom
technology.
For all other features: refer to the Q528.1E LA/LB Service
Manual.
9.1.2
Service Attention Points
One SSB version is to be used in different sets. So if a SSB
is installed in a TV-set, the technician has to make sure the
options are set correctly. Figure "SSB replacement
flowchart" in chapter 5 describes the way to do a board
exchange.
The ComPair connection to the set for this platform is made
to a headphone jack on the back of the sets which carry's
a RS232 level connection to communicate. For this, the in
chapter 5 paragraph "ComPair" mentioned RS232 cable is
needed.
The repair workshop repairing the SSB's on component
level must load the latest set and NVM software in the SSB
before sending the boards back in the pool. This to make
sure that the board is working in a proper way when it is
mounted in a "to repair" set.
In the CSM menu, the 12nc of the display will be
mentioned.
