1
DESCRIPTION
The DIDF is used on the KBDF Series Drives for direct communication between the drive and a
Mod bus RTU device, using RS-232 or RS-485, with the RJ-45 Jack. See Figure 1. The Modbus
RTU Protocol is presented in Section 7 on pages 2 and 3. The Programmable Function List is
presented in Section 8 on page 4 - 8.
2
INSTALLATION
The DIDF easily mounts onto the drive. It is secured by the three clips on the drive. The two
connectors on the DIDF are used to interface with the drive. See Figure 2.

new cover (supplied), as described in Section 6 on page 2.
2.2 REMOVING THE DRIVE'S INTERFACE HEADER COVERS: Both covers must be
removed
off
of headers CON 1 and CON2, on the drive. These covers are no longer needed and
may be discarded.

2.3 INSTALLING THE DIDF: Align the DIDF CON1 and CON3 over the interface headers on the drive. The DIDF should easily drop down into the headers
approximately 1/8" (3 mm) and the DIDF PC board should rest on all three clips. To complete the installation of the DIDF, press down firmly on the PC board near
the three clips until the DIDF is secured onto the drive with all three clips.

DIAGNOSTIC LEDs
The three LEOs provide indication of operational status of the DIDF. See Figure 1 above for the
location of the PWR (Power On), RXD (Receive Data) and TXD (Transmit Data) LEOs.
PWR (Power On) LED: Will illuminate green when power is applied to the drive.
RXD (Receive Data) LED: Will flash while the DIDF is receiving data from the Mod bus RTU device
TXD (Transmit Data) LED: Will flash while the DIDF is transmitting data to the Modbus RTU device.
