GENERAL DESCRIPTION The N-DR2000 Network Video Recorder allows images and audio digital signals originating from network cameras and network video transmitters connected to a LAN to be recorded to a hard disk drive. Because the digital signals produced by such equipment are stored as is, they can be played back with high clarity and quality.

    6. HANDLING PRECAUTIONS • The supplied power supply cord is designed for exclusive use with the Recorder. Never use it with other equipment. • It is recommended that the Recorder be always used in locations where the ambient temperature ranges from 0°C to +40°C and humidity levels of less than 80% to ensure that no condensation is formed.

Note When the system is started up, it performs a check on the hard disk drive which may take several minutes.

    The network camera/video transmitter are all equipped with contact input and motion detection-based alarm functions. When set to Alarm recording, the images from these can be recorded on the N-DR2000 whenever an alarm occurs. The specific recording conditions for Alarm recording are set on the network camera/video transmitter respectively.

    10.2.1. Recording conditions This device is equipped with a variety of recording functions. These can be set individually to use specific recording conditions. For example, Normal recording can be set to record at 1 frame per second (fps), while Scheduled recording records at 5 frames per second. For each recording function, the following settings are available.

    10.2.5. 1000BASE-T Depending on recording conditions, transmission using the lower 100BASE-TX standard may cause frame loss or audio skipping. If this happens, it may be necessary to connect the N-DR2000 to the port of a hub supporting 1000BASE-T switching. 10.3. Search and Playback Using the N-SD2000 Software Decoder Video and audio recorded on the N-DR2000 can be searched and played back using the N-SD2000 Software Decoder.

    To use Alarm recording, the network camera/video transmitter must be set to do so. These settings can be made for each unit in the same way as the N-DR2000, via a Web browser. Refer to the Setting Manual (Chapter3) for more information.

    Recording content being played back by the N-SD2000 can be converted into ".asf" files containing up to ten minutes of image. Such files created using the N-DR2000 can be play- ed using Windows Media Player or equivalent software. Refer to the N-SD2000 instruction manual for more details on creating files for storage.

  • Page 15 • Depending on recording conditions, actual available recording times may be shorter than those listed in this chart. • Using the N-DR2000, it is possible to conduct a variety of recording condition settings for the recorded content of each individual camera. These conditions may change the available recording time.

    Reliable Earthing - Reliable earthing of rack-mounted equipment should be maintained. Particular attention should be given to supply connections other than direct connections to the branch circuit (e.g., use of power strips). N-DR2000 M4 x 12 binding head screw (supplied with the MB-23B)

    Cannot search. Check the “N-SD2000 connection parameters: SIP password.” It is necessary for this password to match the N-DR2000 administrator password. Cannot record. Check to ensure that the network video transmitter and network camera are connected to the network correctly.
