USB 3.0 SuperSpeed Isolator
Quickstart-Guide for ADQ-USB 3.0-ISO Series
The ALLDAQ USB 3.0 SuperSpeed USB isolator provides electrical isolation bet-
ween host PC and USB device. It prevents from over-voltage and ground loops
which are often causing interferences.
Connection:
Host PC
Order of operation:
Connect the host port of the USB isolator with the USB port of your computer first (matching USB cable included)
ADQ-USB 3.0-ISO: Connect the external power input U_EXT with a matching power adapter (included with ADQ-USB 3.0-ISO-PS)
ADQ-USB 3.0-ISO-W: connect an external power supply to U_EXT in the range of 10..36 VDC. Note the correct polarity!
Connect the device port of the USB isolator with the USB device (e. g. USB oscilloscope)
Notes:
• The input for ext. DC supply is short-circuit-proof and protected against reverse polarity. Make sure that the specification
for U_EXT is met! (ADQ-USB 3.0-ISO: +5 VDC, ADQ-USB 3.0-ISO-W: 10..36 VDC)
• Operation system support: Windows, MAC OS and Linux
• Isolation voltage ADQ-USB 3.0-ISO: 1 kV (continuous), ADQ-USB 3.0-ISO-W: 1.6 kV (60 s)
• The max. length of the USB connection may not be exceeded (total length PC to device)
• With ext. power supply max. 900 mA for USB device, without ext. power supply max. 200 mA
• We recommend to connect the USB isolator directly at the PC (USB root port without an USB hub

1) When connecting to an USB 2.0 host (upstream), no USB 3.0 devices are accepted at device side (downstream). The cascading of several USB isolators is not supported.
2) External power supply for ADQ-USB 3.0-ISO(-PS): the recommended power adapter (art. no. 141119) is medical certified and provides 900 mA to your USB 3.0 device according to the USB stan-
dard. The usage of this power adapter guarantees that the specifications of the USB isolator are met. The power adapter is included with ADQ-USB 3.0-ISO-PS.

External power supply for ADQ-USB 3.0-ISO-W: For power supply of the USB device an external power supply in the range of 10..36 VDC providing 7 W minimum is required.
