  • Page 6 MAIN Switch: Used for switching power source to the Tester. Panel Sheet Switch: Consists of START, COOL, RESET switches as well as switches for changing test parameters. Display: Displays test status and result as well as test parameters. Flash Detector: Detects flash by monitoring the change in temperature before and after the ignition source application.

    Test Unit. Then fasten both ends with hose bands. See Fig. 3. The APM-7 is shipping as “Gas Ignition Configuration”, if you want to change ignition source, please see APM-7 maintenance manual.

    3.2 Entering a Barometric Pressure Value (not necessary when built-in pressure sensor is equipped) APM-7 is capable of making automatic correction for barometric pressure by entering the barometric pressure reading through the control panel. Enter the barometric pressure before a flash point test starts as follows: (1) Press FUNCTION key, The display shows Baro set screen as illustrated in Fig.

    3.3 Select Test Procedure and Mode APM-7 has 8 kinds of test mode. ASTM A mode, ASTM B mode, ASTM C mode, Special A mode, Special B mode, Special C mode, User’s Custom and Simulated TAG mode. User’s Custom and Simulated TAG mode are invalid when shipping.

    The expected flash point is displayed in a three-digit figure below the EXP.F.P on the right end of the display. When altering the expected flash point, press the Right-Left key to move the cursor, and after that, operate the Up-Down keys. No numeric figures above 370 (700 in F) can be set.3.4.2 Preparation of Test Cup and Sample CAUTION...

    (Ver.7FP51F.ROM or later) *2: Application starting temperature is adjustable. For changing temperature, consult Tanaka authorized distributor. 3.4.5 Flash Detection (1) When the flash is detected, the observed flash point is corrected by barometric pressure and rounded (*3, recorded flash point) and then starts flashing. See Fig. 6. At the same time buzzer beeps intermittently for 8 seconds.

    COOL switch. Cooling is available for another 10 minutes (*4). The temperature display (flash point) is held until the RESET or START switch is pressed. *4: Cooling time is adjustable. For changing cooling time, consult Tanaka authorized distributor.
  • Page 16: Data Storage Function

    4. Data Storage Function (use this function with optional Built-in Clock Board) APM-7 has a data storage function. Up to 50 successive data can be memorized. (*5) After APM-7 detects a flash point, the data will be stored automatically. If Built-in Clock Board is not installed, actual date will not be memorized in DATE column.

    Gas piping inside the Test Unit is made of nylon tube; outside, viton tube. Gas is very dangerous if it leaks. Consult the Tanaka authorized distributor for periodical gas leakage check. THE TESTER IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH A GAS LEAKAGE DETECTOR.
