Optional Extra: Opening for Automatic Fish Feeder
A replacement canopy rear lid is available including an opening for the
use of a Nutrafi n Profeed fi sh-feeder. Pull to remove the plastic plug and
access the compartment. To close, press the plastic plug in its place. (See
replacement parts section for order codes)

Initial Start-Up

First verify that the fl uorescent bulbs are correctly installed and the threaded fi ttings are securely positioned.
Carefully place the Strip Light and then the front and rear access lids on the aquarium top frame. Ensure
that the electric cord and plug do not get wet while the Glo tubes are being installed.
WARNING: Do not plug in the canopy if there is water on parts not intended to be wet.
WARNING: Do not place any object(s) on the canopy. Ensure suffi cient air space around the
canopy.
Switching the Canopy On and Off
It is recommended to use the line cord switch to turn the fl uorescent lighting on or off.
The Fluorescent Tubes Do Not Illuminate
If the fl uorescent lamp(s) do not illuminate, please proceed as follows:
1.
Switch off the canopy and then unplug it.
2.
Verify that the fl uorescent tube(s) are correctly positioned within the lampholders (refer to the section
titled "Glo Fluorescent Tube Installation")
3.
Roma 200/240: replace the non working bulb/s. Roma 90/125: IMPORTANT If one of the 2 fl uorescent
tubes of the same Strip Light is not operating, the other will not light up, even though it is in good
working order. Replace one tube at a time and test it (refer to " Replacing the fl uorescent tube (s) of the
strip-light)
4.
If the problem is not solved after following the above, please contact your Hagen retailer.
Saltwater Aquariums
It is commonly known that salt water is far more corrosive, conductive (of electricity) and generally degrades
both plastic and metal parts at an accelerated rate versus fresh water. To minimize salt accumulations on
the Fluval Canopy it is recommended to take note of the following helpful tips:
1.
Make sure fi lter outputs do not spray above the water surface, position them below the water surface
with a slight downward angle, but still allow for surface movement (contributes to oxygenation).
2.
If an air pump must be used, frequent removal of salt deposits will be necessary.
3.
Keep the water level as constant as possible (regular top-ups due to evaporation). This is benefi cial in
providing stable salinity and will help protect the canopy.
4.
It is recommended to regularly clean all Strip Light components that come into contact with salt water
at least every 15 days. The cleaning should be carried out with a wet cloth (never use harsh chemical
products or detergents). Simple lemon juice may be used to take away salt accumulation. Afterwards
rinse carefully to eliminate every residue of acid.

MAINTENANCE

Strip-Light Canopy maintenance

WARNING: Fluorescent tubes are made of glass. Handle Strip Lights and tubes with care.
Replacing the fl uorescent tube(s) of the Strip-Light
RECOMMENDATION: Use only standard aquarium normal output fl uorescent bulbs as per the
wattage rating indicated on the electrical data label located on the Strip-Light. Always use original
spare parts only.
1.
Disconnect the Strip-Light from power supply.
WARNING: be sure you unplug the power cord; just switching off the lights with the line cord switch
is NOT enough.
2.
Remove the Strip Light from the aquarium and place it with the fl uorescent tubes facing up on a solid
surface, far enough from the aquarium to avoid accidental falling of parts into water.
3.
Unscrew the lamp-holder threaded fi tting with one hand while supporting the lampholder (to prevent
accidental cracking of this plastic component) with the other hand. This procedure must be performed
at both ends of each fl uorescent tube being replaced.
4.
Carefully slide out the old fl uorescent bulb.
5.
To install new Glo fl uorescent tube(s) refer to the section titled "Glo Fluorescent Tube Installation".
Replacing the refl ector of the Strip-Light
The Strip Light is equipped with replaceable refl ectors to ensure maximum light emission. To maintain
optimal light output it is recommended to replace the refl ectors when they become discoloured.
1.
Disconnect the Strip-Light from power supply.
WARNING: be sure you unplug the power cord; just switching off the lights with the line cord switch
is NOT enough
2.
Remove the Strip Light from the aquarium and place it with the fl uorescent
tubes facing up on a solid surface, far enough from the aquarium to avoid
parts accidentally falling into the water.
3.
Removal of the fl uorescent lamp is necessary to access the white plastic
refl ector (refer to "Replacing the fl uorescent tube(s)" paragraph above).
4.
Gently press on the edge of the white plastic refl ector panel at both
ends, simultaneously, beside the upper locking tabs. This will release the
refl ector, it may now be lifted out.
5.
Position the new refl ector by fi rst locating it within the lower locking tabs and then gently pressing it,
simultaneously, at both ends beside the upper locking tabs until it snaps into place.
6.
Reinstall the fl uorescent tube (refer to "Replacing the fl uorescent tube(s)" paragraph above).
