USER MANUAL WELCOME Thank you for purchasing AUDIT-BUDDY™ Generation 2 product, also called the WIFI-BUDDY. This User manual contains information regarding the set-up, scan and data collection for the AUDIT-BUDDY-Generation 2 product. This product uses a wireless configuration to stream real-time data from the AUDIT-BUDDY system to your computer or laptop.
USER MANUAL OVERVIEW AUDIT-BUDDY is a portable temperature and humidity monitor that records real-time and long-term scans of the data center environment. AUDIT-BUDDY consists of three temperature and humidity (TH1) Modules, three Wi-Fi adapters, and 1 carbon fiber rod with a weighted base. This as a temporary use application that does not require any installation or permanent set-up.
USER MANUAL CONCEPT WIFI-BUDDY uses a separate router that creates a private, temporary, static* IP network to connect the Wi-Fi enabled TH1 Module (WIFI Module) to the PC and stream the data. * The default communication is via static IP. Users who wish to communicate via their facility network should follow the dynamic IP configuration.
USER MANUAL WIFI MODULE Wi-Fi Module The WIFI-BUDDY system consists of three Wi-Fi Modules and 1 carbon fiber rod. A Wi-Fi Module is a Wi-Fi adapter attached to a TH1 Module.

Purkay Labs strongly recommends using the STATIC IP Configuration to create a temporary, private, encrypted network between the PC, Router, and WIFI Adapters. By default, Purkay Labs sends the Wi-fi adapters and router pre-configured to a stat- ic IP network.
USER MANUAL CHANGE PC/TABLET IP SETTINGS FOR STATIC IP CONFIGURATION ONLY In order to create a private, temporary network, the user must change the PC set- tings to a STATIC IP Configuration. Changing the PC/Tablet’s Network to STATIC IP Settings 1.

USER MANUAL SCAN MODE OVERVIEW has three modes to capture short term (QuickScan mode), long term AUDIT- BUDDY (LongScan mode) scans of the data center environment and delta-T mode. QuickScan mode captures short-term (20 Seconds) environmental data across mul- tiple locations. LongScan mode captures long-term environmental data in a single location.

The update rate refers to how often data from the TH1 module is brought to the PC. Making the number lower will reduce battery life. Purkay Labs recom- mend 15-minute update rate as a reasonable value for data collection over a long period (Several hours).
USER MANUAL DELTA-T MODE This mode measures the temperature at the server inlet and outlet, and ultimately will be used to determine how much cold air flows through a server or set of three servers. Use two WIFI-BUDDY systems, one at the server inlet and one at the server outlet.

USER MANUAL SAVE AND READ DATA After a Scan is completed, a Save Data Icon will appear on the tool bar section on the left. Pressing that will save the Scan Data. This data may be retrieved later for review. The Data is saved in a time tagged directory after every scan is complete.
In terms of hardware, WIFI-BUDDY can stream real-time data directly to a PC where- as users must download AUDIT-BUDDY data via a USB stick or cable. During the scan process, WIFI-BUDDY users can start and stop all modules simultaneously with one click.
TH1 Module batteries fall below safe operating thresholds. Should battery failure occur, data collected up to that point is stored in the WIFI-MATE PC . Purkay Labs recommends using the supplied 100-240AV WIFI power brick for long term scans.
Can I look at data remotely or via a mobile app? No. The first generation of WIFI-MATE currently requires the PC and WIFI-BUDDY to be on the same network. Purkay Labs is currently working on a second generation remote monitoring capabilities.
USER MANUAL SCAN After I finish a scan, how do I store the WIFI-BUDDY? Stop WIFI MATE by pressing the Quit Button after stopping the Sampling. Turn the Router OFF. Turn the Adapter Power OFF, otherwise the batteries will drain unnec- essary.
Page 65
SCAN CONTINUED What sort of Batteries should I use for the Adapter and TH1 Modules? Purkay Labs suggest using standard Alkaline AA Batteries. Lithium batteries may be used. Purkay Labs do not recommend using Rechargeable batteries because of the inconsistent power draw from these batteries create performance issues.
