1.7.2 Wireless Device (WD) A Westlock Wireless Device (WD) is bracket-mounted to any type of valve or actuator and – using the standard wireless IEEE802.15.4/ZigBee Pro, 2.4 GHz protocol – wirelessly transmits and receives messages relevant to the position status of the valve in real time. The WD is powered by 4 half AA Lithium batteries.

Figure 2: Wireless Device Internal Antenna Mounted on Actuator The Westlock Wireless Device (WD) is the sensing component of the Westlock Wireless Valve Monitoring System. It is installed on top of a valve or actuator and consists of a stem attached mechanically to the valve or actuator axle.

Each valve type requires a unique mechanical design for the specific bracket and Westlock has a large installed base and extensive experience manufacturing and customizing such brackets.
