Follow the instructions below if an error message appears in the display.

Meaning
The volume exceeds the
maximum volume of
AVLS.
You are trying to add a
bookmark that have already
been registered to all of the
bookmark types.
• You are trying to operate
the player via the AC
power adaptor connection
without inserting the
battery.
• You removed the battery
from the player while it
was connected to a
computer.
exceeds the limit.
Setup or operation is
cancelled.
You are trying to edit a
Bookmark during
playback.
"Initialize System" in the
Options display is selected
during playback.
You are trying to add a
bookmark while the player
is stopped.
The clock in the player is
not working.
Audio data is broken.
Corrective action
 Set "AVLS" to "AVLS
Off" (  page 53 ).
 A track can be registered
once only in each of
Bookmark 1 to 5.
 Insert the battery when
you connect the AC
power adaptor to an AC
outlet.
 Remove unnecessary
bookmarks (  page
40 ).
 You cannot edit
Bookmarks during
playback or stop mode.
 Stop playback and select
"Initialize System"
again.
 Add a bookmark during
playback (  page 39 ).
 Connect to the computer
(  page 24 ).
 Transfer audio data to
the player again ( 
page 24 ).
