Oxygen Therapy Kit
TM

Intended Use

This oxygen therapy kit is intended for the delivery of low flow oxygen therapy via nasal cannulae to adults. This
kit includes two thermal fuses that enable some specific fire safety requirements of EN ISO 8359:2009+AMD1
and EN ISO 80601-2-69:2014 to be met. The nasal cannula fitted is intended to deliver oxygen flow rates up
to 6 litres per minute.

Warnings!

1. Keep this oxygen therapy kit free from oil and/or grease. Do not lubricate the hose barb connectors.
2. Never administer oxygen therapy while smoking or near an open flame.
3. Firesafe Cannula Valves must be oriented correctly in the patient circuit as shown overleaf. Failure to fit
them in the correct orientation will render them ineffective in the event of a fire.
4. Additional risk control measures (e.g. SpO2 monitoring with an alarm) are essential for patients who
might suffer injury or death in the event that their oxygen flow is stopped unexpectedly.
5. This kit is intended for single patient use and should not be used with other patients due to the risk of
cross-contamination.
6. Keep the tubing straight and free of kinks. Do not set anything on the tubing that may obstruct the flow.
7. Keep excess tubing loosely coiled and out of the way to prevent tripping over it.
8. Do not sterilise this administration kit or any of the components.
9. Do not immerse this administration kit in any fluid or allow fluid to enter through the ends.

Cleaning

Clean the outside of the kit, including the nasal prongs, with a clean damp cloth. Do not use strong detergents,
alcohol or scented lotions or soaps.

Replacement and Disposal

It is recommended to replace your nasal cannula at least every 14 days and not to use it for more than 30
days. The Firesafe™ Cannula Valves should be disposed of 4 years after the date of manufacture engraved
on the device. The administration kit should be replaced if the oxygen tubes become damaged, discoloured
or stiff.
