CP-5000 Sensor Test & Alignment
This is an internal Amano document detailing the test and alignment of internal CP-5000 sensors for
factory production and authorized Amano dealers. The functions to perform these tests are only
available in firmware versions 4.05 and later.
This procedure specifically covers tests 12 – 16 in Diagnostics Menu (Menu 8 / Items 12 -16):
Item 12 – Block Sensor Adjustment: If the block is not being printed in the proper position on the
Time Card, this procedure adjusts the print position via a programmed offset.
Item 13 – Home Sensor Test: This test verifies the functioning of the Home Sensor.
Item 14 – Card Sensor Test: This test verifies the functioning of the Card Sensor.
Item 15 – Block Sensor Test: This test verifies the functioning of the Block Sensor.
Item 16 – Timing Sensor Test: This test verifies the functioning of the timing sensor which controls
the positioning of the Time Card.
Refer to the Programming Guide in Chapter 4 of the CP-5000 User's Guide (ATR-10590x) for
reference on entering Program Mode.
Block Sensor Adjustment (Menu 8, Item 12)
If the block is not being printed in the correct position on the Time Card, proceed as follows:
1. Remove the Top Cover.
2. Enter Program Mode. Press the Function key until menu 8 appears.
3. Press the Change key 11 times until menu item 12 is displayed.
4. Press the Enter key to start the test. The number on the right of the
display is the currently programmed block offset. Increasing this offset
will move the printed block to the right; a decreased offset shifts the
block to the left.
5. Insert a Time Card and allow the clock to print; DO NOT remove the card.
6. Manually (and gently) press the card into the throat until the printed block on the left side of the
imprint lines up with the Block Sensor Assembly.
7. If the block is to far to the left of the block sensor, press the Change key to increase the
indicated offset. If the block is to the right of the block sensor, press the Change key until the
offset indicates a lower number.
Note: Each positive increment in the offset moves the block approximately 2.4 mm to the right.
Each negative offset increment moves the block 2.4 mm to the left.
8. Remove and reinsert the card to allow the clock to print. Repeat the procedure until the block is
centered.
9. Exit Program Mode.
