7) Bi-directional print O N ( E S C / )
Format · LPRI NT CHR$(27 ) : " / " , or L P R I NT CHR$( & H 1 B) : " / " ;
Function This escape sequence causes the printer to start printing bi­
directionally at the next carriage return when the printer Is
printing uni-directionally as set by ESC \ . The pr inter is always
set to the bi-directional print m ode when it is turned on
In this mode, the carrier m oves to the next printing position in the
sho rtest distance possible ( l ogical seeking).

Function • This escape seq uence cancels the bi-directional print m o d e and
switches to the uni-di rectional print mode. When the p rinte r is in
the uni-directi onal print mode, the ca rrier always returns to the
left margin when it receives a carriage return code ( CR) and
prints only from the left to right
This m ode is cleared by sending ESC / , ESC S U B I, o r turning
the power switch off.

" \ " can be printed only when an ASCII printwheel is installed on the
typewriter . The character in the SC Hex position on the standard
cha racter table will be printed if another type of print wheel is installed.
