While the water is being run through the tank, insert a
stiff wire, opper tube attened at one end or an opened
wire
oat hanger through the
s rape out any loose deposits of s ale or sediment This
is an e onomi al way to avoid unne essary usage of the
deliming solution
Repeat the opening and losing of the old water inlet valve
as ne essary but be sure the heater is ompletely drained
when ready to introdu e the UN LIME
Upon ompletion, reinstall the leanout over and use a new
leanout over gasket (part number 9004099215)
Remove the drain valve
9 Install the long plasti male adapter insert tting into the drain
valve opening of heater after applying Te on tape or paste to
threads Tighten rmly by hand and use wren h or adjustable
pliers to he k for se ure onne tion Do not over tighten to
avoid damage to threads and ttings
Prepare the Up-N-Down Transfer Kit
The next step is the preparation on the Up-N-Down Transfer Kit,
if you have not already done so
1 With the 5 gallon Up-N-Down
position, uns rew the plasti vent
pier e the plasti membrane over the vent boss under the
ap to allow the ontainer to vent
Note: If your ontainer does not have the vent ap and vent
boss, drill a 3/16 hole in the handle When you have nished
deliming you will be able to plug this drilled vent with the
stainless steel s rew that is supplied with the kit
2 Remove the ontainer s ap and ut the plasti membrane
lo ated in the 3/4 IPT opening in the ap Take are to not
damage the threads
3 Find the 3/4 male adapter, apply te on tape to the threaded
end and s rew it into the 3/4 IPT opening in the ap
4 Put ap with male adapter ba k on the ontainer and slide
3/4 hose over end of male adapter and fasten in pla e using
hose lamp provided
Delime using Flo-Jug Method
5 Slide the hose lamp over end of hose and slide hose over
the male adapter in the water heater drain opening and
se ure in pla e using hose lamp
6 Lift ontainer to the Pour Position, see Figure 26, being
areful to keep the vent in the handle above the liquid level
and pour the UN LIME into the heater
7 Lower ontainer, you may have to pla e the ontainer on its
empty arton to prevent the UN LIME from owing ba k into
the ontainer
8 Let UN LIME remain in the heater for 5 minutes and then
lower the ontainer to the Drain Position, see Figure 26
9 Deliming a tivity is indi ated by foaming on the surfa e of the
UN LIME If there is deliming a tivity, repeat steps 6 thru 8
leanout opening and
ontainer in the verti al

or white halk in a glass with a small amount of UN LIME

Keep the area around the burner lear and free of ombustible
materials, gasoline or other

The main burner ames (Figure 27) should be visually he ked
on e a year for proper operation This an be observed through
the observation port on the burner housing Burner ame should
be blue DO NOT use the observation port on the side of the tank
to inspe t the burner ame
1 Add a few drops of no 20 non-detergent oil (BTP-139/A thru -
370/A) into the oil tubes on e every three months
2 At least annually, onta t a quali ed servi e te hni ian for
a burner readjustment,
maintenan e Should the main burner or burner air openings
require leaning, remove the burner and lean with a soft
brush Clean main burner ori e with a suitable soft material
ompleted within one hour
