In the event a malfunction of the
" SRS" is indicated as outlined above,
we strongly recom m end that you visit
an authorized MERCEDES-BENZ
dealer immediately to have the sys­
tem checked; otherwise the " SRS"
may not be activated in a m ajor frontal
accident.
Important note:
The airbag is designed to activate
only in major frontal impacts within
the shaded area shown in the illus­
tration on page 38. Only during
these types of impacts will it pro­
vide its supplemental protection.
The driver should always wear the
seat belt, otherwise it is not possi­
ble for the airbag to provide its
intended protection.
In cases of less severe frontal
impacts, roll-overs, certain side
impacts, rear collisions, or other acci­
dents w ithout severe frontal forces
the airbag will not be activated. The
driver and other passengers will then
be protected by the fastened seat
belts.

Front Passenger Airbag
If your vehicle is equipped w ith the
optional fro n t passenger airbag, it can
be identified by the lettering " SRS-
A IR BA G " on the dashboard ahead of
the fro n t passenger (cover of airbag
unit).
Important note:
The front passenger airbag is
