Voodoo3™ Reviewers Guide
• Automatic: Setting this mode allows the driver to determine when to use 3dfx's new Alpha-
Blending Quality technique as needed. This is the Default mode.
• Sharper: This option turns off the Alpha-Blending Quality technique, which results in a
sharper image and removes some of the "screen door" effects on the image.
• Smoother: This option activates the Alpha-Blending Quality technique, which results in a
smoother image without the "screen-door" effects that can appear in some games.
The new drivers also feature a Video Display quality menu which allows users to choose
Automatic, High and Normal settings. These options give users the ability to employ special
image processing technology that optimize output based on the graphics demands of a
particular title, and on the performance or image quality preferences of the user:
• Automatic: This allows the driver to determine the specific image processing algorithm
which provides the best combination of performance and image quality. This is the Default
mode.
• High: This "high quality" option produces an image without the color "banding" that can
appear in some games. Choosing this option results in a slight performance trade-off with
some titles.
Normal: This "high-performance" option removes some of the color "banding" on the image,
but does not impact rendering performance.
