6 Maintenance

6.4.3 Assemble the 2-inch single mechanical seal (80-S)

1. Lubricate the shaft sleeve with soapy water.
Do not use a petroleum lubricant.
2. Slide the stationary seal with an O-ring onto the shaft.
3. Slide the rotating portion of the seal assembly onto the shaft sleeve and lock it in place
a distance of 55/64 in. (2.813 cm) from the seal collar to the impeller end of the shaft
sleeve.
4. Assemble the coverplate onto the bracket.
5. Tighten the capscrews according to the Capscrew torque table.
6. Attach the seal gland to the coverplate.
7. Tighten the capscrews to the seal gland according to the Capscrew torque table.
