ZW-MODULE P-LINE INSTALLATION GUIDE (EN)
INTRODUCTION
This wireless module is designed to be installed in a Z-Wave
compatible smoke or heat alarm which offers an additional
option for wireless connectivity. For the current range of Z-Wave
compatible products visit www.fireangel.co.uk
When the wireless module is fitted into a Z-Wave compatible
FireAngel smoke or heat alarm it enables the unit to be
wirelessly interlinked to a third party Z-Wave Controller.
When any of the interlinked products are triggered by smoke
or heat, the unit will transmit messages to the main Controller.
NOTE: You will need the User Manual of the product into
which you are installing the wireless module in order to
understand alarm operation. Z-Wave module characteristics
are different to those stated in FireAngel Wi-Safe 2 literature,
please contact Technical Support on 0800 141 2561 or email

This product can be included and operated in any Z-Wave
network with other Z-Wave certified devices from other
manufacturers. All non-battery operated devices within the
network will act as repeaters regardless of vendor to increase
reliability of the network.
HOW TO INSTALL A Z-WAVE
WIRELESS MODULE
(ZW-MODULE)
Please read these fitting instructions carefully before proceeding,
paying particular attention to the ESD handling guidelines below.
•Remove the label which covers the module aperture on the
host unit.
•Avoid carpeted areas in cool, dry areas if possible, and reduce
static electricity if necessary by touching a grounded metal object.
•Carefully remove the module from its packaging, handling
the module only by the protective plastic cover, to avoid
electrostatic discharge.
•Be careful not to touch the components or connector pins.
•Remove the plastic battery insulation tab by pulling it out.
•Carefully plug the module into the aperture in the unit, pushing
down until it lies flat within the base of the unit.
The unit is now ready to be added (included) to the Z-Wave
Controller.
'ADDING' YOUR Z-WAVE UNITS
Do not attempt to add your Z-Wave Module unless you are
familiar with the operation of your Z-Wave Controller.
1. Read the instructions for your Z-Wave Controller regarding
adding new devices. Then initiate the inclusion function from
your Z-Wave Controller.
2. Triple-press the add button once the Z-Wave Module
on the device. The LED will show a quick blink once per second
while the module is being added. This process may take as long
as 30 seconds, but typically is much quicker. If you triple-press
too quickly or too slowly, inclusion will not start. In this case
wait a few seconds and then try again.
3. Upon successful inclusion, the Z-Wave Module LED will flash
3 times. If inclusion fails, the LED will simply stop its blink pattern.
4. If inclusion does not succeed, restart at step 1.
5. If successful, place the alarm on its base and wait at least
30 seconds.
6. Press the alarm's test button and verify the Z-Wave Controller
receives Notification Reports.
7. After the Z-Wave Module is included, you may define
association groups or perform other configuration operations
from the Z-Wave Controller.
For information about where to position the alarm, and
operational guidelines, please see the device User Manual.
Once a year the unit will send a Notification Report showing
Maintenance Required, Periodic Planned Inspection. The
alarm's test button should be pressed to clear this condition.
WAKING THE MODULE
If the module has been successfully included, when pressing
the button, the LED will flash three times. In addition, the
module will communicate with the Z-Wave Controller, accepting
any pending commands.
'REMOVING' YOUR
Z-WAVE UNITS
1. Read the instructions on your Z-Wave Controller regarding
removing devices. Note that a device can be removed using
any Z-Wave Controller, not just the Controller that was used to
add the Module. Initiate the removal process at your Controller.
2. Triple-press the button on the Z-Wave Module. The
LED will show a quick double-blink once per second while
the module is being removed. This process may take up to
30 seconds. If you triple-press too quickly or too slowly the
removing function will not start. In this case you must wait a
few seconds and then try again.
3. Upon successful removal, the Z-Wave Module LED will flash 5
times. If removal fails, the LED will simply stop its blink pattern.
4. If the removal operation does not succeed, restart at step 1.
5. After removing, either a) add the Z-Wave Module into a
different Z-Wave Controller, or b) remove the battery from the
Z-Wave Module.
NOTE: The effective range of the wireless module may be
reduced by walls and other obstructions in the building. It is
recommended not to exceed 40m as the maximum distance
between the alarm and the Controller.
Once the Z-Wave module is removed from a device, it needs to
be reset before it can be used in another device.
1. Press and hold the button on the Z-Wave Module for 10
seconds. Once the LED light goes off, release the button.
2. The module is now reset. This will erase the network as well
as the device ID. The module can then be placed in a new
device and learned-in to a network again. Resetting whilst the
module is still connected to the old alarm, will erase only the
network content. Resetting once the module is removed from
the alarm, will erase the network as well as the device details
from the module.
Please use this procedure only when the network primary
controller is missing or otherwise inoperable.
BATTERY
The ZW-Module contains 1 x CR2 lithium battery. The module
will send a low battery Notification Report to the Z-Wave
controller when it is time for a replacement. The ZW-Module is
compatible with any Z-Wave Controller, however the battery life
may be shortened due to default settings on some controllers.
The Controller's firmware may require updating, to understand
the Notification Command Class V8.

REPLACING THE BATTERY
1. Remove the module from the alarm.
2. Without touching any metal pins on the module, carefully
remove the battery. Dispose of the battery appropriately.
3. Without touching any metal pins on the module, insert a new
CR2 battery, checking for correct orientation.
4. Re-insert the module into your alarm.
5. Place the alarm on its base and wait at least 30 seconds.
6. Press the test button on the alarm and confirm that the
Z-Wave Controller receives a Notification Message.
NOTE: The alarm device is not dependent in any way on the
removable battery inside the module. Not replacing the battery
inside the module will only prevent the alarm communicating to
the Z-Wave Controller.
LIMITATIONS OF
THE Z-WAVE SYSTEM
1. Alarms are not wirelessly interlinked to each other.
2. Only the initiating Alarms will sound.
3. The Z-Wave protocol is not a life safety protocol and should
not be relied upon for life safety.
4. If your internet connection is lost, communication from your
3rd party controller (i.e. to cloud or mobile devices) may not
be possible. Your alarm will still continue to operate as a stand
alone alarm and does not rely on an internet connection to do so.
WARRANTY
For information on alarm warranty (not including the ZW-module
or replaceable battery) please refer to the main alarm manual.

that its enclosed ZW-MODULE be free from defects in materials
and workmanship under normal residential use and service for
a period of 2 (two) years (and not including the replaceable
battery) from the date of purchase. Provided it is returned with
proof of purchase date, Sprue Safety Products Ltd hereby
warrants that during the 2 (two) year period commencing
from the date of purchase Sprue Safety Products Ltd, at its
discretion, agrees to replace the unit free of charge.

scheme.

EINFÜHRUNG

Wenn das Funkmodul in einen Z-Wave-kompatiblen FireAngel
Rauch- oder Hitzemelder eingesetzt wird, ermöglicht es die
drahtlose Verbindung mit einem Z-Wave Controller eines
anderen Herstellers.
Wird eines der verbundenen Produkte durch Rauch oder Hitze
ausgelöst, überträgt die Einheit Meldungen zum Hauptcontroller.
HINWEIS: Sie benötigen die Gebrauchsanleitung des Produkts,
in das Funkmodul eingesetzt werden soll, um die Bedienung
des Melders zu verstehen. Die Merkmale des Z-Wave-Moduls
entsprechen nicht den Angaben in der Dokumentation zum

Dieses Produkt kann in jedes Z-Wave-Netzwerk mit anderen
Z-Wave-zertifizierten Geräten anderer Hersteller eingebunden
und in diesem Netzwerk betrieben werden. Alle nicht mit Batterien
betriebenen Geräte im Netzwerk fungieren zur Erhöhung der
Netzzuverlässigkeit herstellerunabhängig als Repeater.
INSTALLATION EINES
Z-WAVE-FUNKMODULS
(ZW-Modul)
Bitte lesen Sie diese Installationsanweisungen sorgfältig, bevor
Sie die Installation durchführen, und achten Sie dabei besonders
auf die ESD-Handhabungsrichtlinien.
• Entfernen Sie das Etikett, das die Modulöffnung an der Host-
Einheit abdeckt.
• Vermeiden Sie nach Möglichkeit mit Teppichen ausgelegte
Bereiche in kühlen, trockenen Räumen und reduzieren Sie
ggf. statische Elektrizität durch Berühren eines geerdeten
Metallgegenstands.
• Entnehmen Sie das Modul vorsichtig aus der Verpackung und
fassen Sie es dabei nur an der Kunststoffschutzhülle an, um eine
elektrostatische Entladung zu vermeiden.
• Achten Sie darauf, die Komponenten oder Stecker kontakte
nicht zu berühren.
• Entfernen Sie den Kunststoff-Batterieisolierstreifen, indem Sie
ihn herausziehen.
• Stecken Sie das Modul in die Öffnung der Einheit und drücken
Sie es nach unten, bis es flach im unteren Teil der Einheit liegt.
Jetzt kann die Einheit dem Z-Wave Controller hinzu gefügt werden.
'HINZUFÜGEN' DER
Z-WAVE-EINHEITEN
Versuchen Sie nicht, Ihr Z-Wave-Modul hinzuzufügen, wenn Sie
nicht mit der Bedienung Ihres Z-Wave Controllers vertraut sind.
1. Lesen Sie die Anweisungen zum Z-Wave Controller
hinsichtlich der Einbindung neuer Geräte. Aktivieren Sie dann
die Einbindungsfunktion vom Z-Wave Controller.
2. Drücken Sie die Einbindetaste dreimal, sobald das Z-Wave-
Modul in das Gerät eingesetzt wurde. Die LED blinkt
einmal pro Sekunde, während das Modul hinzugefügt wird.
Dieser Vorgang kann bis zu 30 Sekunden dauern, ist aber
normalerweise deutlich kürzer. Wenn das dreimalige Drücken
der Taste zu schnell oder zu langsam ausgeführt wird, startet die
Einbindung nicht. Warten Sie in diesem Fall einige Sekunden und

6. Drücken Sie die Testtaste des Melders und prüfen Sie, ob der
Z-Wave Controller Benachrichtigungen erhält.
7. Nach der Einbindung des Z-Wave-Moduls können Sie vom
Z-Wave Controller aus Assoziationsgruppen definieren oder
andere Konfigurationsaufgaben aus führen.
Informationen zum Positionieren
Bedienungsanweisungen finden Sie in der Gebrauchsanleitung
des Geräts.
Einmal jährlich sendet die Einheit eine Benach rich tigung
zu erforderlichen Wartungen und regel mäßigen geplanten
Inspektionen. Durch Drücken der Testtaste des Melders kann
diese Anzeige gelöscht werden.
'AKTIVIERUNG' DES MODULS
Nach erfolgreicher Einbindung des Moduls blinkt die LED
nach Drücken der Taste dreimal. Außerdem kommuniziert
das Modul mit dem Z-Wave Controller und nimmt anstehende
Befehle an.
'ENTFERNEN' DER
Z-WAVE-EINHEITEN
1. Lesen Sie die Anweisungen zum Z-Wave Controller
hinsichtlich des Entfernens von Geräten. Beachten Sie, dass ein
Gerät mit jedem Z-Wave Controller entfernt werden kann – nicht
nur mit dem Controller, mit dem es hinzugefügt wurde. Starten
Sie das Entfernen am Controller.
2. Drücken Sie dreimal die Taste
zeigt einmal pro Sekunde ein schnelles Doppelblinken, während
das Modul entfernt wird. Dieser Vorgang kann bis zu 30 Sekunden
dauern. Wenn das dreimalige Drücken der Taste zu schnell oder zu
langsam ausgeführt wird, startet das Entfernen nicht. Warten Sie
in diesem Fall einige Sekunden und wiederholen Sie den Vorgang.
3. Nach erfolgreichem Entfernen blinkt die LED des Z-Wave-
Moduls fünfmal. Schlägt das Entfernen fehl, beendet die LED ihr
Blinkmuster komplett.
4. Wenn das Entfernen fehlschlägt, beginnen Sie wieder bei
Schritt 1.
5. Nach dem Entfernen a) fügen Sie das Z-Wave-Modul einem
anderen Z-Wave Controller hinzu oder b) entnehmen die Batterie
aus dem Z-Wave-Modul.
HINWEIS: Die Reichweite des Funkmoduls kann durch Wände
und andere Hindernisse im Gebäude verringert werden. Es
empfiehlt sich, eine maximale Distanz von 40 Metern zwischen
Meldern und Controller nicht zu überschreiten.
Sobald das Z-Wave Modul aus dem Gerät entfernt wurde,
müssen Sie es zuerst zurücksetzen bevor es mit einem anderen Gerät
verwendet werden kann.
1. Drücken und halten Sie die Taste auf dem Z-Wave Modul für
10 Sekunden. Wenn die LED erlischt, lassen Sie die Taste los.
2. Das Modul wurde jetzt zurückgesetzt. Hiermit wird sowohl
das Netzwerk als auch die Geräte ID gelöscht. Das Modul kann
nun in ein neues Gerät eingesetzt und wieder in ein Netzwerk
eingelernt werden. Wird das Modul zurückgesetzt obwohl es
noch mit einem alten Melder verbunden ist, dann wird nur der
Netzwerkinhalt gelöscht. Wird das Modul zurückgesetzt sobald
es aus dem Gerät entfernt wurde, dann werden sowohl die
Netzwerk als auch die Geräte Details in dem Modul gelöscht.
Verwenden Sie dieses Verfahren nur, wenn der primäre
Netzwerkcontroller
Betriebsbereit ist.
Das ZW-Modul enthält
diese ausgetauscht werden muss, sendet das Modul eine
entsprechende Benachrichtigung an den Z-Wave Controller.
Das ZW-Modul ist zwar mit jedem Z-Wave Controller
kompatibel, aber

BATTERIEAUSTAUSCH
1. Nehmen Sie das Modul aus dem Melder heraus.
2. Entnehmen Sie vorsichtig die Batterie, ohne die Metallstifte am
Modul zu berühren. Entsorgen Sie die Batterie ordnungsgemäß.
3. Setzen Sie eine neue Batterie vom Typ CR2 ein, ohne die
Metallstifte am Modul zu berühren, und achten Sie dabei auf
korrekte Ausrichtung und Polung.
4. Setzen Sie das Modul wieder in den Melder ein.
5. Legen Sie den Melder auf seine Unterseite und warten Sie
mindestens 30 Sekunden.
6. Drücken Sie die Testtaste des Melders und prüfen Sie, ob der
Z-Wave Controller eine Benachrichtigung erhält.
HINWEIS: Der Melder ist nicht von der austauschbaren Batterie
im Modul abhängig. Wenn die Modulbatterie nicht ausgetauscht
wird, verhindert dies nur die Kommunikation zwischen dem
Melder und dem Z-Wave Controller.
BESCHRÄNKUNGEN DES
Z-WAVE SYSTEMS
1. Die Melder sind nicht per Funk untereinander verbunden.
2. Nur der alarmauslösende Melder ertönt.
3. Das Z-Wave Protokoll ist ein Standardprotokoll und und hat
gewisse Sicherheitsbeschränkungen.
4. Falls Ihre Internetverbindung verloren geht, ist unter
Umständen keine Kommunikation Ihres Drittanbieter Controllers
möglich. (zB. an eine Cloud oder Mobilgeräte) Ihr Melder kann
als Stand-Alone Melder weiter betrieben werden, hierzu wird
keine Internetverbindung benötigt.
Informationen zur Rauchmelder Garantie (beinhaltet nicht das Z-Wave
Modul oder die austauschbare Batterie) entnehmen Sie dem Rauchmelder
Benutzerhandbuch.
Sprue Safety Products Ltd garantiert dem Erstkäufer 2 (zwei) Jahre
ab Kaufdatum, dass
Nutzung in Wohnräumen und normaler Wartung frei von Material- und
Verarbeitungsfehlern ist (dies gilt nicht für die austauschbare Batterie). Sprue
Safety Products Ltd garantiert hiermit, dass das Modul – sofern es mit
Kaufnachweis zurückgesendet wird – innerhalb des Zeitraums von 2 (zwei)
Jahren ab Kaufdatum nach eigenem Ermessen von Sprue Safety Products
Ltd kostenfrei ersetzt wird.
Die Garantie auf
Restzeitraum der
