SYMPTOM
Heater fails to ignite
Heater lights - flame
extinguishes when
releasing safety valve
button after depressing
for 60 seconds
Fuel mixture burning
within Rayhead assembly
Ceramic temperature
below 1700 F
Heater Flare-Up
Heater extinguishes on
low setting

CAUSE
1. Cylinder's gas valve closed
2. Manual shutoff valve closed
3. Heater inlet pressure too low.
4. Heater safety control valve defec-
tive
5. Obstruction in orifice spud
6. Spark igniter wired disconnected
or grounded
7. Electrode out of alignment
8. Electrode ceramic cracked
9. Spark igniter defective
1. Inadequate gas pressure
2. Insufficient fuel supply
3. Thermocouple defective or loose
4. Heater safety valve defective
1. Gas connection loose
2. Inlet pressure too high
3. Cracked or broken ceramic
4. Improper lighting
1. Orifice spud misaligned
2. Obstruction in orifice spud
3. Inadequate gas pressure
4. Cylinder's gas valve not fully open
5. Manual shutoff valve not fully
open
6. Kinked or obstructed fuel line/
hose
7. Ceramic separated or cracked
1. Contaminated fuel
2. Liquid fuel reaches heater
3. Wind or drafty conditions
1. Control valve turned beyond low
position
2. Dirty orifice
3. Inadequate gas pressure
1. Open Valve
2. Open valve
3. Verify adequate fuel supply is available.
Check regulator outlet pressure is 11" WC on
high position
4. Replace
5. Clean or replace
6. Reconnect or replace
7. Adjust to 1/8" from heat rods
8. Replace
9. Replace
1. Increase to 11" WC on high
2. Provide adequate fuel supply
3. Replace or tighten electrical connections
4. Replace
1. Tighten & check for leaks
2. Reduce to 11" WC on High setting
3. Replace rayhead assembly
4. Light ceramic burner element & not at the
orifice
1. Replace orifice mounting bracket
2. Clean or replace
3. Increase to 11" WC on high setting
4. Open
5. Open
6. Straighten or clean
7. Replace
1. Disassemble, thoroughly clean unit and LPG
filter
2. Possible overfilled LP bottle or using liquid
withdrawal bottle. Replace with vapor draw style
bottle
3. Relocate heater so the wind comes behind
the unit
1. Adjust valve to proper range
2. Clean orifice
3. Increase to 11" WC on high setting
