INSTALLING BATTERIES The T330BA requires six AA-size batteries Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of batteries (standard, alkaline, or rechargeable), or rechargeable batteries of different capacities. 1. TESTING AND USING THE DETECTOR To learn how the detector reacts to different metals, you should test it before you use it the first time. You can test the detector indoors or outdoors. You can set the DISCRIMINATION control to minimum (fully anticlockwise), to maximum (fully clockwise), or anywhere in between. As you set the DISCRIMINATION control to higher levels, the detector first does not detect small pieces of aluminium foil, then thick foil, and finally metal objects like pull tabs from aluminium cans.
