- Page 5 VOLUME The Sound City power amp section is noticeably different than the typical amplifier you’re probably used to, and this is important in understanding how to unlock the beast within. Start with setting the BRILLIANT and NORMAL volumes for your desired tonal balance The lower the levels, the cleaner the amp will sound, the higher the levels, the louder and more overdriven the amp will become as you begin to push the output stage into saturation.
