    3. Preface This manual provides you with the necessary information for managing your MetroStar Access System using the MMM-01 management module (monitor and control), via the command line interface. The CLI is available both on the serial connection terminal (through the RS232 interface) and via remote Telnet sessions (through the Ethernet interface).

    4. General rules and guidelines General command syntax The main basic commands in the system, used for displaying and modifying configuration, of the various elements within the system, are the view and config. When using these commands to manage a speicfic device (module or CPE), the proper indexing information must be provided within the command.

    ‘config’ commands The ‘config’ keyword will prefix any command that is intended to modify any configuration parameter within the system. Any config command uses the general syntax rules as described above. ? help modifier When the user wishes to know the options of a certain command, he should use the ‘?’...

    Command availability by device type The command reference provides details on each of the generally available commands in the system. In addition it specifies the scope of each command, that is, where this command can be used. Some commands however, may be available for a particular type of device and may not be applied to other types.

    Error messages In any case, where a command cannot be executed properly, an error message will be displayed in response to the command. There are several types of error messages that will be displayed as a result of different illegal conditions.     6. Offline configuration General The offline configuration facility (AKA OFC) allows you to preconfigure the chassis, before any modules or remote devices are physically installed. Once they are installed, they will automatically get the configuration that was prepared for them in advance. Refer to the MMM-01 user manual for more details.
