Chapter 1 – Device description Safety Instructions When operating the reverse osmosis unit, please observe the following safety instructions as well as those contained in subsequent chapters. Maintenance Use only original replacement parts for maintenance. Leaks Close the water intake upon detecting a leak. Check all hoses and hose connections for leaks.
Chapter 1 – Device description Chapter 1 – Device description Intended Use The reverse osmosis unit is used to produce de-mineralized water and functions according to the reverse osmosis principle. This process presses water through a semi-permeable RO membrane (osmosis module) where the salt content of the cold water is reduced by some 95 %.
Chapter 1 – Device description Structure of the reverse osmosis unit Fig. 1: Reverse osmosis unit MELAdem 56 with pressure tank Item Designation Explanation Controls the current flow to the pump. Prevents e.g. a too high Pressure switch pressure increase in the pressure tank.

Chapter 1 – Device description reverse osmosis unit. Pre-filter The pre-filter filter holds back all particulate material, rust and other soiling. Pump Generates the necessary water pressure. Power supply Supplies the pump with current. Power connector Supplies the power supply with current. PLEASE NOTE The corresponding connections are located at the underside of the Cliniclave 45/Cliniclave 45 D.
(Fig. 2, pos. 8, 9 and 10). Secure the MELAdem 56 to the screws at the spacers on the rear panel of the floor unit. Connect the waste water line (0.7 m) and the cold water line with the corresponding connections on the MELAdem 56 (Fig.

Cold water connection DANGER When the steam sterilizer is switched on, a voltage of 230 V is found on the power connection from the reverse osmosis unit to the Cliniclave 45/Cliniclave 45 D.
Mount the cover of the osmosis module. The water treatment unit now works fully-automatically. Checking the operational readiness Operating pressure Perform a daily check of the pressure on the pressure tank manometer before first program start. Chapter 3 – Commissioning Pressure in the Meaning Measure pressure tank (blue indicator) 3-4 bar Recommended operating pressure; in ---- general the pressure tank is still sufficiently full from the previous day. < 2.5 bar Little feed water in the pressure tank Leave the steam sterilizer switched on so that the reverse osmosis unit can operate.
Interval/time Check/cleaning Daily Measure the permeate conductivity with a conductivity sensor or with a MELAG steam sterilizer, via the integrated test program "conductivity measurement". Check the pressure in the pressure tank via the inbuilt manometer. 12 months Check hoses and screw connections for leaks, crushing or kinks.
Chapter 4 – Maintenance Switch on the steam sterilizer and open the pressure tank shut-off valve. Check whether all the parts are secure and that the reverse osmosis unit is free from leaks. Replacing the activated carbon filter Replace the cartridge of the activated carbon filter once a year or when replacing the fine filter. Switch off the steam sterilizer and close the pressure tank shut-off valve.
Chapter 4 – Maintenance Replacing the mixed-bed resin cartridge If the mixed-bed resin quality is exhausted (poor permeate quality), replace the mixed-bed resin cartridge. Check the permeate conductivity after every replacement of the mixed-bed resin cartridge. Switch off the steam sterilizer and close the pressure tank shut-off valve.
Replace the fine filter, activated carbon filter and mixed-bed resin cartridge, empty the pressure tank and rinse the reverse osmosis unit and pressure tank before recommissioning. after 2 months Disinfect the reverse osmosis unit.
