Audi Q3 Stainless Steel & Aluminium Side Steps Fitting
Instructions
Thank you for purchasing the Audi Q3 side steps. For fitting the item you will need a socket
or spanner set with a 10 mm bit, you will also need an angle grinder, a small hacksaw and a
knife for cutting the under body tray, a bright torch and some PVC gloves. No drilling is
required. You will need to remove the under body tray to access the fixing holes. To refit you
will need to cut slots around the brackets. A ramp will make the fitting time around 50
minutes. If you don't have a ramp fitting will take longer as you will be sharing the space
with the side steps.

Fitting Steps:

 First unpack all the boxes and remove the bolts etc from the packets.
 Next you will need to get underneath the vehicle to undo the plastic under tray. The
plastic nuts holding the tray up require a 10 mm socket. There are also some screws
that require star shaped bit to undo.
 Once you have removed or lowered the trim you can see the fixing holes and
grommets that need removing. Select the passenger front bracket and the innermost
hole can be found in front of one of the under tray fixing points.
 The other fixing point can be found near the sill and a rectangular shaped rubber
grommet needs removing to allow the fitment of a T-bolt. A T-bolt fits by putting the
long flat end in first and then pull it across to hold it in place. The threaded section
should now be showing through the hole, as can be seen above.

There will be a small rectangular bloc in the kit that has a small metal frame attached to it, this goes in to the inner hole. A bolt will go in to this to hold the bracket in place. You will need to hold on to the metal frame when tightening the bolt up later on.
  • Page 3 requires a 17 mm socket and the inner bolt requires a 13 mm socket.  Now if you go to the rear of the Q3 and there will be part of the under tray that is hanging down in front of the rear wheel arch and fuel tank. Remove the two round grommets.
  • Page 4  Now get the rear passenger bracket and hold it up in place, again getting a washer, spring washer and nut for each T-bolt. These rear T-bolts require an 18 mm socket.  You will now need to start putting the under tray back on if you want it on. Tighten up all the plastic nuts you can with the 10 mm socket and then mark the areas you need to cut.
