    Warning: An insulation barrier is required. Do not allow direct contact with the skin. Always wear an insulation barrier between the skin and the Active Ice® bladder. Failure to use an insulation barrier between the bladder pad and the skin can lead to injury.
  • Page 3 Note: Do not attempt to charge the battery while it is operating the unit. (i) The Polar Active Ice® Cold Therapy System includes an electronic digital timer. The digital timer may be turned on by pressing the on/off button. The timer will automatically set at 30 minutes and turn the unit on.
  • Page 4 (k) Use the enclosed elastic belt with hook and loop tabs to Water Return Flow Tube hold the universal bladder comfortably on the target body part. (See “Using the Universal and Rectangular Bladder with the 3” x 44” Belt” section on page 7 in this manual for proper fit with elastic belts.) CAUTION: Always use an insulation barrier (such as Webril, Kerlix, cast padding, or elastic bandage) between the therapy bladder and the skin.

    4. Cleaning and Extended Storage Note: It is not possible to remove all of the water from the bladder, system and tubing; therefore before extended storage follow these instructions. (a) To clean the system after you have finished all of your cold therapy treatments and prior to extended storage, fill the reservoir with water to the fill line and mix in 2 tablespoons of liquid bleach.
  • Page 6 • Check the water level in the cooler. Confirm that the pump is Water Return Flow Tube completely submerged in the water. • Check for kinks. Ensure there are no kinks in the hoses, insulated tubing or therapy pad. • Adjust the belt. Ensure that the belt(s) holding the therapy bladder to the body are not too tight and impeding flow.
