    The TW5310 performance is easy to evaluate with the following software applications. Open Source GPS Software Utility The TW5310 is compatible with most third party applications that are capable of decoding standard NMEA 0183 messages. The following open source GPS utility can be used to display the NMEA output sentences graphically.

    GPS position and timing information is output once per second in NMEA format. The NMEA RX and TX outputs are at RS232 levels. The default output from the TW5310 is 3 digit GGA and RMC messages at 4800 baud, but can be configured to output 4 or 5 digit resolution.

    TW5310 User Manual Note 2: If you are using the Visual GPS software utility to display TW5310 outputs, the GSV message should be enabled to view satellite signal strengths. 1PPS Differential 1PSS outputs at RS422 levels are provided. The 1PPS signal is synchronized to UTC to within 100 nanoseconds.

    Figure 8 shows the internal 1PPS qualification status of the TW5310. Once the 1PPS status is detected as good, a 1PPS Start Delay is inserted before the 1PPS qualification signal is output to ensure that the TW5310 has time to average out the satellite clocks and provide a stable 1PPS output.

    Parameter Fields The following configuration parameters can be set and saved: Baud rate: Sets the operating baud rate of the TW5310. If this is changed and written to the TW5310 you will need to change the Configurator baud rate to match.
