My lawn mower is hunting then after about 5 minutes it ticks over and works. after long grass managed to stop the blade it was difficult to start. I noticed the carb is fully open and before I start instead of resting on the springed screw. It also started to push oil through the carb filter which then drips down. Any help would be helpful

The likely causes of the Challenge XSS40A lawn mower hunting, having difficulty starting after stopping the blade, and pushing oil through the carburetor filter could include:

1. Overfilled engine oil – Excess oil can be forced into the air filter and carburetor, leading to poor engine performance and starting issues.
2. Dirty or oil-soaked air filter – An air filter contaminated with oil or debris can restrict airflow, causing engine hunting and hard starting.
3. Running the engine without the air filter element – This can allow debris into the engine and affect its operation.

Ensure correct oil level, clean or replace the air filter, and always operate the mower with the air filter properly installed.
