  • Page 27: Frequently Asked Questions

Q-Why does the Seastar receiver require a position input from my GPS receiver? A-If the Seastar receiver receives a position input from the GPS receiver it can then compute optimised RTCM corrections for the present location which will improve the accuracy of the system.
  • Page 28 3000LRS DGPS RECEIVER OPERATOR’S MANUAL Q-Which port on the Seastar receiver do I use to connect to my GPS receiver? A-Always use the Auxiliary (AUX) port to connect the Seastar receiver to a external GPS receiver Q-What can I use the DATA port for? A-The DATA port echoes the AUX NMEA input from the external GPS receiver.
  • Page 29 A-Often it’s the case that GPS receivers using RS422 use different ports to receive RTCM and transmit NMEA. The port to receive RTCM from the Seastar receiver is normally a RS232 port; the port to transmit NMEA to the Seastar receiver could be a RS422 port. Connect the RS232/422 converter as follows:...
