OIL AND PETROL INFORMATION OIL AND PETROL MIXING INSTRUCTIONS Old and/or improperly mixed petrol are the main reasons for the unit not running properly. Be sure to use fresh, clean unleaded petrol. Follow the instructions carefully for the proper petrol/oil mixture. Definition of Blended Fuels Today's fuels are often a blend of petrol and oxygenates such as ethanol, methanol, or MTBE (ether).
STARTING/STOPPING INSTRUCTIONS STARTING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING: Operate this unit only in a well- ventilated outdoor area. Carbon monoxide exhaust fumes can be lethal in a confined area. WARNING: Avoid accidental starting. Make sure you are in the starting position when pulling the starter rope (Fig. 8). To avoid serious injury, the operator and unit must be in a stable position while starting.
Clippings are thrown away from the operator. • Slowly move the trimmer into and out of the cutting area at the desired height. Move either in a forward- backward or side-to-side motion. Cutting shorter lengths produces the best results.
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE Perform these required maintenance procedures at the frequency stated in the table. These procedures should also be a part of any seasonal tune-up. NOTE: Some maintenance procedures may require special tools or skills. Place the choke lever in Position 2. NOTE: The choke lever must be in Position 2 to remove the air filter/ muffler cover.

Locate muffler front and the two (2) bolts securing it to the engine (Fig. 26). Remove the two (2) bolts using a flatblade screwdriver or 5/16-inch socket or nut driver.
