Thank you, and congratulations on your choice of the Roland Powered Subwoofer KCW-1.

These sections provide important information concerning the proper operation of the unit.
Additionally, in order to feel assured that you have gained a good grasp of every feature
provided by your new unit, Owner's manual should be read in its entirety. The manual
should be saved and kept on hand as a convenient reference.
Before using this unit, carefully read the sections entitled:

Main Features
• Equipped with a specialized 10-inch (25 cm) subwoofer speaker, the high-powered KCW-
1 has an output of 200 watts.
• The KCW-1's CROSSOVER knob allows you to balance sounds according to the low-
frequency playback capability of the connected device.
• Also featured is a BOTTOM switch that further boosts low-frequency sounds.
• INPUT and THRU OUT both feature 1/4" phone jacks and XLR connectors for greater
connectivity to a variety of devices.
• With the THRU OUT connector, you can even connect devices with no SUBWOOFER
OUT to the KCW-1.
• You can connect an optional foot switch and use your foot to switch the output from the
KCW-1's speaker on and off.
• The unit also has a built-in handle for easy portability.

    Setting this switch to INV inverts the phase of sounds played from the KCW-1’s speaker. Ordinarily use the KCW-1 with this switch set to NOR. Switch the setting as needed according to conditions where the unit is being set up to achieve greater volume in the bass range.

  • Page 8 Instructions for Connecting to Devices Equipped with SUBWOOFER OUT Connectors (Stereo Connection) When connecting the KCW-1 to the KC-550/350 or similar devices, and using a stereo link to play sounds in stereo, make the connections to the KCW-1 as shown in the following figure.
  • Page 9 Instructions for Connecting to Devices With No SUBWOOFER OUT When connecting to devices with no SUBWOOFER OUT connectors, connect such equipment to the KCW-1 after referring to the following figure. DP-2 Polarity Switch FS-5U Foot Switch (Momentary Type) Input signals from the VS Series and other output devices to the INPUT connectors. Connect DS Series powered monitors or similar devices to the KCW-1’s THRU OUT.
