    If you are upgrading your software, you should install VScanner your- self; Avid installs VScanner on new systems. After VScanner is installed, it works in the background while AirPlay MP is operating, and generally does not require any additional operator input.

Therefore, all Avid sys- tems on your network must run release 1.0.4 v2 exclusively or 2.1.9 and 2.2.

Major problems can occur, including loss of data on the disk, if you repartition or change partition sizes using a different version of AVIDdrive.

    Control Iomega Jaz Drives The AFRTS version of AirPlay MP 3.9 includes one Iomega Jaz drive for every CPU. The Jaz drive is a third-party product. These drives are for backup purposes only, and should not be run continuously for more than 24 hours.

    AFRTS users in Japan use the US NTSC video format; these users should leave the Has Setup video setting selected (this is the default setting). The instructions on page 1-13 in the AirPlay MP UserÕs Guide are for non-AFRTS users in Japan.

    ÒSupplemental InformationÓon page Duplicated Clips in Playlists You can create duplicate master clips in multichannel AirPlay MP, but they are not supported. Therefore, when a duplicate copy of a clip is used and purged from a playlist, the duplicate copy source in the shared library is not relinked.

    Release 3.9 Release Notes AirPlay MP supports the real-time effects (dissolves and wipes) that are supported in NewsCutter. AirPlay MP does not support other effects that are supported in Media Composer. Media Composer 6.5 real-time effects with color borders play with black borders.

    Workaround: Duplicate the event and place it in the playlist twice, or load one copy in the Standby Event window. Master Clips Reappear A master clip that has been deleted may reappear in the AirPlay MP database bin. Workaround: Delete the clip from all bins on all channels.

    After a pause event, there is a delay of several seconds before you can play the next event. For example, if you enter a pause to play a very short event from an external source, AirPlay MP is not ready to play the event after the pause for several seconds.
  • Page 59 Avid recommends that you limit modiÞcations to the Play channel while playing on the air. Do not make any major modiÞcations to the playlist while on the air. AirPlay MP cannot import playlists whose names contain more than 27 characters.     Release 3.9 Release Notes System Freezes When the system freezes, the Macintosh system and the AirPlay MP application suddenly stop responding to keyboard and mouse com- mands, and you cannot access the menus. At times, the system might seem to freeze, but is simply processing a command. Check the cursor.

    The report is saved in the AirPlay folder; the Þle name is the date and time the report gets generated. ¥ Exit To Finder quits AirPlay MP automatically and goes to the Finder level. ¥ Continue continues, usually generating a succession of error screens.
