    Chapter 1 : General Information Introduction The 3PCI2 Dual Port serial interface card is designed to work with Windows based IBM compatible computers with a PCI bus. The card is Plug and Play compatible which permits the Windows Operating System and driver to set the addresses and IRQ used by the card.

    In the 2-wire (half-duplex) mode, the receiver is enabled when not transmitting, and disabled (RX SD) during transmit (echo off). The 3PCI2 provides Send Data (SD) Control for the RS-485 Driver and Receiver. This is hardware controlled based on the contents of the UART output buffer.

    The RS-485 receivers on the 3PCI2 are biased with a 4.7 K pull-up resistor on the Receive Data B line and a 4.7 K pull-down resistor on the Receive Data A line. These values are usually adequate for networks without termination and 31 or fewer nodes.
