Respiration Theory of Operation The V3395 uses a thermistor mounted in the luer –lock fitting to measure respiration. The thermistor is inserted into the tracheal tube adapter, to place sensor in the middle of the air stream. The sensor is heated and detects breath by cooler air moving across the sensor.
  • Page 35: Chapter 7: Temperature

Chapter 7: Temperature Temperature Theory of Operation The V3395 uses standard (YSI 400 Series) thermistors to measure the temperature of the patient. These thermistors have a large predictable variation of resistance with temperature. The monitor measures resistance of the thermistor in the sensor and converts it to the equivalent temperature in degree of Celsius or degrees of Fahrenheit as selected by the operator.
